At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

-“Mummy, please wake up.” The tiny pup nuzzled her mother’s neck trying to rouse her before the monster came back. “We have to go mummy. The monster will come back and hurt us more.” The pup hastily pulled at the wolf’s fur and ears but unfortunately her Mother didn’t stir. Footsteps approached the den and the pup knew who it was immediately. “Mummy quick he’s coming!” But it was too late the monster was there, towering over the tiny pup and her mum. “Trying to get away where you? YOU LITTLE BRAT.” The monster swooped down and grabbed the pup by her neck. “I’LL TEACH YOU TO RUN AWAY.” He dropped the pup on the floor and pinned her down with his gigantic paws, opened his mouth and..........-

A thud woke the femme up with a jolt, her eyes flicked open in surprise and her heart pounded out of her chest. It took awhile before the lass realised where she was and who she was with. Amatus’ soothing words and tender kisses calmed Yoki down promptly and her breathing slowed. He nudged her back urging her to get up. “Why? Where are we going?” The lass said as she watched the brute walk over to the water. The female was still very weak but the rabbits Amatus had brought her had built her strength up enough for her to move. Yoki stretched her legs out, yawning as she did. Shakily she stood up and stretched again, taking the play bow position before standing straight and licking her lips and dry nose. Amatus was right when he said she should drink, her nose was so dry; to dry. “Okay Amatus I will.” The pair still hadn’t quite got over the incident that had happened a couple of weeks ago, well Yoki hadn’t anyway, she wasn’t sure if the brute had put it in the past. The femme padded slowly over to the liquid. She knew it couldn’t be moving too fast as the lad seemed to be enjoying the cooling water. The lass stopped just a little way in from the bank, her front paws relaxing in the refreshing liquid. Yoki bowed her cranium down to the water and let her tongue lap it up. The water was revitalizing and thirst quenching and just what the wolf needed.

As she drank the brujo spoke of ruling a pack and Yoki moved her eyes to look at the brute. He then told her that they should join a pack and the lass spat out the water that she had just tried to swallow. “A pack?” The female looked at Amatus with a fear in her eyes. She had only just gotten used to being with one wolf and even that was a task in itself. The lass had messed that up pretty well, what would she be like with lots of wolves in one place? “I...I don’t think I can do it.” He seemed so happy when he spoke about the different packs but she was just filled with horror and dread. With all her heart Yoki wanted to make things easier on Amatus and she knew that being in a pack would benefit them both but it wasn’t going to be easy, and the lass hoped the barrier she put up towards other wolves wouldn’t dash Amatus’ chances of being happy. The dull hued ess took a deep breath in. The brute had looked after her so much lately it was time to do something in return. “Alright, let’s go. I’ll go with you wherever you choose, and if it means so much to you I will join a pack.” The lass forced a smile onto her face, though she tried to hide the fact it was forced and nuzzled the brute tenderly.
