aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

I continue to listen, keeping a lone ear tuned toward the meeting. Cody is talking to Zig, telling her that he never left. He says something else in a soft voice but it's intimate enough to make my darker side rumble in distaste so I tune it out, looking off into the woods, wondering who will come out next. I can sense when Cody catches wind of Sin because the tension heightens. Something tells me a part of Cody is not happy that she left the pack alone for so long and not so happy that she shows up when he's had enough and decides to call a pack meeting. I wonder if Cody had planned on appointing himself alpha? I can't say I would have said no. I don't know much about him but anyone leading is better than no one leading.

Everyone is tense though. Our pack is failing while other packs are growing stronger. Abendrot is making a name for itself as an army. They took hostages from other packs and took rogues from their free lands, holding them captive in Abendrot. I don't know what they plan to do with the captives but I'm sure they don't plan on setting them free with goodies to bring back to their packs. Nobody feels safe in Blossom anymore.

A new tension takes hold of the air when Vela steps in. I know the black female from about every pack meeting. She's always there faithfully, her loyalty to Sin and Akina unflawed. It's easy to see that she would do anything for them. And yet the way Cody says her name, it's easy to see that he's entranced. The boy is in love. How sweet. If only I wasn't feeling all bitter and kill-hungry at the moment then maybe I would feel happy for him. But it only makes my chest rumble more as I tense and look off into the distance, trying to think of anything but here.

Cody addresses the new female next, thanking her for coming to the meeting. He doesn't introduce himself or ask her further inquiries on her name or what brings her here. I wonder if he's leaving that for Sin to ask. I note when Cody moves closer to the female, feeling his gaze on me. I glance up, catching his eyes if only for a second, long enough to see the nod but it does nothing to soothe the savage beast inside. If anything, it only makes him angry to be told what to do. He doesn't like being told what to do. Cody takes a seat close by the new female and waits patiently, as if seeing if Sin will take charge of the meeting or if he should continue on in the leading fashion he was already following.

And then her perfume invades the air around me and suddenly it's hard to breathe, let alone think. I look up, the beast rumbling in pleasure now as my golden gaze settles on her gorgeous silhouette. Her fur is lucious and alive, dazzling in the sunlight. She looks healthy and glowing, a young mistress in her prime of life. Too good for the likes of me. I can't pry my eyes away even though my inner logic bids me to. I can't stop watching her move. She looks at Cody first, taking him in as an old friend but the beast growls a warning inside of jealousy, possession. Next she looks at Sin and nods her head in respect, ever the loyal pack mate and friend to the deaf alphess.

Then she's watching the new female arrive with her pups, chuckling a sweet sweet sound when the pup rushes up to Sin and introduces himself. She looks uncomfortable when she sees the female approaching Cody and again the beast rumbles in dismay to see her so awkward. She takes a seat and suddenly I know that she has caught wind of me because she stiffens and her eyes find their way to me as if in slow motion. All of a sudden, fear bubbles up inside me out of nowhere, the beast pushing back into the shadows, no room for him in this chaos of nerves and fear of the unknown. Her first reaction is a heart melting smile but it vanishes as quickly as it had come, her eyes calculating as they look on the darker side of me, the side I never wished she had to see in me.

And then she's moving toward me and my eyes widen, pleading with her to stay away. I don't trust myself and I'll never forgive myself if I hurt her. And yet she keeps on going, her stride beautiful and graceful, like a goddess floating towardher throne. She comes up beside me, her perfume suffocating me with lust and much much more. I want to reach out and touch her, inhale her sweet fragrance and never let her go. Her voice comes to my ears hauntingly, asking if she can join me. I try to give a stiff head nod, even while I'm screaming at her to run away on the inside. Panic wells up inside me. What if I snap?

She doesn't wait for an answer though, sitting down beside me, my whole body jolting with longing when her fur brushes my own. I hear her voice again, telling me that she went looking for me. She whispers it softly next to my ear, which flutters in pleasure of the sound. My skin ripples with longing as I slowly turn my head toward her, my nose tauntingly close to her own before I stop turning my head, one golden eye piercing into her own beautiful brown before I speak, softly, carefully. I have searched for you ever since you disappeared. I never stopped looking. Your trail went cold after a while. I kept looking blindly. Did you find your kids? The voice is blunt with a cold edge but I'm trying to fight it. With her here, I have a reason to fight it.
