Division among retirees exists because people view things as us vs them when the opinion and choices of others conflict with their own. I knew the pension board's actions were wrong in the Parker case just as I knew they were wrong with the multiplier fiasco. You probably did too. It is just a pity that retirees have to sue in any attempt to get just and fair treatment. Until this Parker case I was never told that I was a member of a class action unless I opted out. I still don't understand how that was legal. It appeared to me that by opting out I would be making a selfish and greedy decision that would demonstrate to the unions and pension board that we would not and could not stand united in support of a member trying to get fair treatment for all of us. I am not angry with anyone who opted out so why would anyone be angry with the "Opt ins"? Replies:
