Attica's first inclination upon noticing that he wasn't alone as he thought he'd been on this cold winter day was to pause, and that he did, ducking low into a frost-coated thicket bush and peering with his wide golden gaze. He blended well, an ice-coated shadow in the tall dead grass, with only his shining eyes betraying his presence among the reeds and rushes. He watched as Mari drew near, padding with a slight favoring to her step that the boy's keen eyes noticed was likely caused by her swollen paw. She didn't seem bothered by it, though, something that struck the young male as somewhat strange. Still, the youth only watched as she padded towards him, getting ever closer, as if aware he was there but ignoring him entirely. He wasn't sure how to feel about that, but it wasn't in the boy's nature to feel affronted. He was hiding, after all.

The youth caught his breath, holding it and holding still as Mari came closer and picked herself a strange purple flower whose name and properties were unknown to Attica. He blinked as she moved away, settling down and appearing to mash the flower into a kind of paste that she then applied to her wounded paw. Suddenly more overcome with curiosity than he had been with concern for his own self-preservation, in the way that most pups often are, the awkwardly gangly, in-between boy stepped forth from his hiding place with a whisper of dry dead grasses. He took a few tentative steps toward her, head tilted and eyes shining as he looked at the Coral Flowerr paste, nose flaring to get a taste of the salve.

"What is that?" he wondered starkly, aloud. Attica was blunt and curious, and he looked up at her with a keen and hungry gaze, his lean face drawn with skepticism. He had a question, and it was entirely likely this cream and black-marked fem had an answer for him.
