Ani's peaceful world of happiness and innocence was rocked as Scar told her his story. She felt her heart break for the young pup who had seen and experienced such cruelty at the paws of his parents. She was horrified, her blue eyes troubled. She felt a quick flash of anger. Who could do such a thing?
She heard the pain in his voice and wanted to forget the whole conversation that had led to his remembered pain. Ani was caring and protective by nature, always wanting to fight everyone's battles and heal hurts.
She saw the resigned look in his green eyes. He probably thought she would cringe away. Maybe he thought she would suddenly fear him. He didn't know her just yet. She gently touched her nose to his shoulder and stood close to him.
"I'm sorry." She said quietly, her words measured and sincere.
"No one should ever know such cruelty, especially a pup. No one can go back and change what was, but I can listen if it will help." She said, her blue eyes full of warmth and honesty.
"You've come a long way. You're not that helpless pup anymore." She said reassuringly. Replies:
