During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

[monologue] for a sleepless night

He looked over to see her cheeks flush slightly, light alabaster fur hiding little of her rosy complexion. And some part of Serris felt satisfied with this result, although he knew this sort of reaction was likely the wrong thing to feel at a time like this. Despite, he listened attentively, auds perked and swiveled to gain the full impact of her words. Couldn’t answer his question, eh? He lowered his head slightly as they trod onward. So... either they were both too stubborn to admit their feelings or both of them really were confused. And, considering the recent events in both of their lives, either option would make the most sense. Instead, Serris let his kissers turn up slightly; not a smile, per se, but a melancholy expression of defeat. His eyes narrowed, softened. And, through all of this, Serris simply spoke a single word, a softly uttered “Ah.”

As they reached the river, Serris could feel the resistance in his muscles as he padded the first few feet away the shelter. Why? As Alpha he always had much to do, not to mention that Kobato still needed his attention. But he lingered; each paw hovered undecided over the ground during each step, allowing him time to change his mind. No, he had to go. That was that. But Alleria’s words stopped him in his tracks. Her subdued lyrics barely reached his sentries, but he received them just the same. A sigh escaped into the chill air, his head once again falling below the line of his shoulder. Well, it seems that fates had a different plan for him tonight. And, although something in Serris raced at this request, the vampire also knew that he couldn’t do anything he wanted just because she requested his presence. Surely, that could come later.

Turning and softly padding back under the overhang of the rock, Serris sat next to Alleria’s form. Seconds passed where he had no idea what to say. What was there to say? It’s not like they had politics to feud over, what each had been doing recently was already established. Finally admitting defeat, Serris lowered his chest to the ground, wincing slightly at the freezing kiss of the dirt. He looked up. “Well, there’s no point in standing around and shivering. Make yourself comfortable, less I feel that my presence is weighing on your nerves.” His eyebrow rose slightly, breaking into the poetic tongue that he so often enjoyed and yet had forgotten as of late.
