Like any good grandmother, Jaye had followed her grandson to their new home. Though Jaye didn't know Weylin all that much, she still loved him just as much as she had loved his father, Fenrir. Family had always been important to Jaye and they were all she had left now. The old blind female knew that without her family, she would have died years ago when the horrible rock from the sky claimed everything. Now that she had lost her sight, Jaye depended on the pack more than any other wolf. If not for them, she would die. It was as simple as that. And so she followed her grandson without question for surely no one else would even dream to take an old, blind wolf into their ranks. There was nothing she could do for the pack. Never again would she hunt or even mark the pack borders. How could she be trusted to watch over the pack's younglings when Jaye couldn't even go a single day without bumping into something? Jaye knew she was useless and there were days when she wondered what was the point in continuing on. Today, however, was not that day. No today was a good day. Though Jaye could not see her new home, she knew it was just a beautiful as it sounded and smelled. The first thing the dark female noticed when she stepped within the back was the fresh, slightly salty scent. She knew they must be close to the shore and yet, the river seemed to help push the heavy salt away. The ground felt soft beneath her paws and the trees brought wonderful shade to the land. The terrible summer heat would have a hard time reach Jaye here and for that she was grateful. Having a thick pelt of nothing but black made the sun a cruel being to the wolf and summer had become Jaye's least favorite season. Spring could be just as bad, but it seemed this year was going to be cooler. Only time would tell if that was a good thing or not. Jaye sighed deeply as she lay in a cool patch of dirt while the sun drifted lazily overhead. The sound of the river was close by, the water trickling over rocks made Jaye feel more relaxed than she had been in years. This place was a good home and the old female couldn't think of a better place to live out the rest of her days. A scent drifted towards her as the day wore on. One that made her smile and stand up from the shaded dirt. If there was anything good about being blind, it had to be the fact that Jaye's nose had grown far more sensitive than it had been when she had used her eyes to guide her. Young Salem was close by and alone it would seem. Maybe it was time for that to change. Jaye moved slowly from the trees towards the river. Her eyes gazed forward uselessly, ears were up and alert, and nose was close to the ground. Soon Jaye had pinpointed where Salem was and she trotted over to greet her. However, the black wolf had miscalculated where Salem was and ended up tripping as her front paw slipped into the water. Before she could stop herself, Jaye who front half fell into the water. For a split second, Jaye was confused and didn't know where she was but as she pulled herself from the water and sat on the bank of the river she remembered and calmed herself to save herself from anymore embarrassment. Dripping wet, Jaye turned to face Salem with dead eyes and gave a weak smile. "Hello, Salem. It was quite warm today so I thought I would cool off in the river. Fancy meeting you here. How are you, honey?"
