Aindreas lowered his gaze and tucked his tail as soon as he saw the dark brute slip out of the dense wood. He assumed this was the ‘Serryberry’ that the fae Kobato had mentioned… it didn’t really fit the brute, although Aindreas assumed that the brute’s personality would be much different with the fae than he would be with strangers. Aindreas felt his gaze upon him, and he stood stock still, every muscle in his body tense, yet he kept his body position submissive. The alpha then spoke to him, and his words did not fall upon deaf ears. The threat cleared up any doubt that Aindreas had held about the alpha being protective about Kobato. As the alpha neared him and positioned himself between Aindreas and the fae, Aindreas backed up, giving the alpha the extra space, and kept his eyes positioned on the ground, his gaze not daring to glance at the fae.
The alpha spoke again, telling him that joining the pack or dying were now his only options, which worked well for Aindreas, since joining the pack had been his motive from the beginning. The alpha then asked Aindreas to introduce himself. It was clearly a command… and not a question. Before Aindreas could answer, Kobato begin to speak again. His ears swiveled to listen to her, but he kept his gaze respectfully lowered. He used the extra time to swallow, again trying to coat his unused vocals. Kobato reprimanded him for calling her “miss”, and then was trying to describe what a knight was, and Aindreas took it to mean a warrior of the pack. At the end of her speech, Kobato insisted that he was brave in some way.
She described bravery as choosing between what is right and what is wrong, and being strong and kind. Aindreas opened up his mind and thought back to his years alone, and how easily he had slipped into that solitary life style. It was being among others that was difficult for him, and yet here he was, because it felt right. In his heart, he knew that he belonged with others of his own kind. Kobato’s words ran through his blood like adrenaline, and he found his vocals to be softer than they previously had been. And then she said his name again, and called him her friend. At that point, Aindreas felt his maw slip into a small smile once more. He inhaled a deep breath through his nares, and began.
“M’lord…” He began, not knowing the alpha’s true name and refusing to call him by the term of endearment that Kobato used so freely. “Death for me will not be necessary, for the reason of my proximity to your border is for no malicious nor hidden intention. It is my objective to join your pack, if you will have me. My body will be yours to command, my fangs your weapons. Anything that you wish to know of me, ask, and I will answer honestly to the best of my ability.” He paused to swallow again, the words feeling foreign upon his pink tongue, his vocals muscles tiring from the strain of speech. “Years ago I was raised in this pack as an orphan, raised to be a warrior. When my mentor left, I did too. It is my hope that I can be admitted to this pack so that I can have a place to call home, a pack to call family. ” His maw shut, not knowing what else he should say. The alpha seemed cold, and protective of the younger fae. Aindreas felt respect for him immediately, for the ultimatum that was offered. A strong leader, this alpha clearly was, and it was what Aindreas felt had been missing. He was a warrior, and lived to serve, protect, defend. It was a long road that he had traveled to get here, but it was here that he hoped would be home.
