At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Mae explained that she used to the heat that penetrated her body and that she grew up thriving in its golden rays. She said the sun reminded her of the kingdom in which she was born in. “I see,” he commented gently while a small smile enlightening his maw. “It is nice to bask in the warmth, doing nothing but cloud watching.” He said, his words vague as if he was thinking of happy recollections although the yawn that Mae had frequently produced brought him to his senses and he made a mischievous remark, hoping she would see the funny side of his comment. ‘As much as I’m relaxed enough to sleep, I don’t fancy lying down on this surface. You may be able to be comfortable, but as a delicate lady I don’t think I’d manage.’ He chuckled with a small smile displayed on his chocolate kissers. “Believe me, I’m far from comfortable – but I guess I’m that much stronger than you.” He said with a small nod before flashing a quick smile in her direction. A cold wind ruffled his pelt of browns, gingers, white and black. Terrel sighed and reached over to his side, flickering out his tongue to catch some crystalline liquid.

‘I’m not sure exactly, but I suppose they’re the equivalent of a beta to an alpha, but for the beta. As in, I suppose they stand in when the beta’s not available and support the beta in what they do. At least, that’s how I interpret the position.’
Terrel listened intently as she explained the purpose of a Gamma. He nodded, understanding what they did and who was fit for the rank. “I see, so they are like a backup I suppose. I believe that you would make an exceptional Gamma too.” He responded honestly.

The silver girl seemed oddly surprised by his choice; Alpha. He hoped that she did not think that he was unfit or unworthy. His brown optics studied her as she tilted her head, curious to find out what she thought. Terrel smiled as her lyrics revealed that she could see him as an Alpha, which made him oddly happy. “I hope I will someday but currently I am too scared of failure…” He said and hung his head with a brief moment of shame but lifted it once again to listen to her quiet words after he had commented on something else. She agreed with his dictum and he nodded with a smile, absorbing in all her thoughts.

His eyes watched her maw and his ears perked as she began to begin their conversation however she froze and Terrel’s orbs creased into confusion. He turned his muzzle to check behind him, making sure there were no menacing wolves behind the pair. However his confusion was soon soothed as she inquired whether it was raining or not. He could feel nothing. “I don’t believe so,” he said but as soon as his words were complete he felt a raindrop land on his nose; sending many shivers crawling up his body like spiders.

“Oh, it appears I was mistaken. Yes it is; I believe I am going to seek shelter somewhere, you are welcome to join me if you wish it.” He said gently with a smile, his eyes creased with the fickle rain. Terrel raised his body, grumbling in satisfaction as he stretched out ever so slightly. His banner wagged gently and began to walk slowly away, his limbs were sluggish but he was walking any way.
