aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

The grey brute had just recently been voted to the position of Alpha, and he was still unsure of how to act all of the time. He did not wish for the position to corrupt him or turn him into a cocky, arrogant bastard. Still, he had to admit that he was extremely pleased that, aside from Magic and Glitch, the mates that had run against him, all of the lupines had voted for him. Their belief that he had the ability to revive the pack sent a new sensation of pride through his soul, and Kalgalath had found himself holding himself with a different aire and walking with a different stride. He now walked with his bodice erected proudly, his chest puffed out, his cranium held high, and his plume erected over his dorsal. But still, his mind ran wild. The pack was a shadow of what it could be, its pack members few. But it was the ones present that counted most indeed.

There was King Kong, his oldest, dearest friend. They had known each other for many years, and although Kalgalath had left and had been absent for two years, upon his return it was as if they had not been apart. The brute’s tail swayed furiously back and forth, his curiosity commanding Kal’s thoughts for the present. And yet it seemed that Kong was hiding something about what had occurred at Munashii Gekko years ago. Although Kal was curious, he would not question his friend. There was Chiron, the brute that was rarely spoke, and Zig, perhaps the oldest of the pack members. She, too, was quiet, although probably for different reasons. Kal hoped that he would be able to get to know each of them better. And finally, there were Magic and Glitch, the mates that had most recently been inducted into the pack. They were more talkative, and were both high spirited. Aside from them and himself, that was the extent of the pack members.

Because of this, Kal’s audettes perked quickly as he heard soft pitter-patters that came from nearby. Kal had been pacing along the edge of the terra, marking the terra as his own. The boundary’s scent had grown faint since Sin’s death, and he had wanted the terra to show a strong front. The brute paused his marking however, and began to travel toward the source of the sound, curious as to what caused it. Was it prey? An intruder? A possible new member? The large brute’s paws landed softly on the ground, despite the broadness of his bodice. He stalked slowly, his plume, cranium, and all of his being stiff, showing his position as Alpha. Through the brush we went, and his cold, icy gaze landed upon a small pup. His paws were large for his age, showing that he would grow to a respectable size. And yet the pup was overly thin, and Kal’s eyes slanted at the sight of every one of his ribs. No respectable parent would allow their pup to wither away to become such as this pup.

Glancing down at the little brute, Kal allowed his eyes to soften slightly, although his bodice remained stiff and erect. “What is your business here, pup? Where are your parents?” Kalgalath fell silent. His second question, he almost regretted. The pup most likely didn’t have parents…
