Just informing you all of a quick update to the joining form.
The required field "gender" on the joining form has now changed to "biological sex", to match the database. An additional, optional "gender" field has been added between "defects" and "age". This is in recognition of the fact that not everyone's biological sex matches their gender, and in the real world (and the game, of course!) gender is much more important. Biological sex is still a required field for the database because it's need-to-know information relating to breeding/reproduction.
Biological sex refers to your character's anatomy; whether they have male or female genitalia. Gender refers to your character's self-perception of their masculine or feminine identity. Cisgender characters' sex matches their gender, but transgender characters have a different gender to the sexual anatomy they were born with.
If you're still confused about sex vs gender, please ask. Sexuality is still not on the joining form (although you are of course welcome to include it in your join application!) and is a different thing altogether. :)
