The fact that the brute had not attacked yet caused Nocturne to relax. She watched him breathe deeply, perhaps to calm himself, or maybe he was simply pondering things. Her signals she portrayed certainly were not light after all. She eyes his gleaming ivory fangs, but no longer felt as though there was any danger, even if the male had a threatening demeanor. She cocked her head, surprise emanating from her expression as he crumbled up her introduction and tossed it into a fire. It did not bother her though, not much hurt her anymore except for actual physical pain. No, the fae was not emotionless, she was just used to being picked on and used as a toy for cruel intentions all of the time; it was normal for her. Any bad or negative things in her were buried away in a dark corner of her soul so she could stay cheerful and look for the good in others.

After a pause the brute continued speaking, a slight snarl to his rough voice, causing her to flinch slightly. It was a warning. She dipped her head politely with a light smile to signal the warning had been noted. It was something she was definitely used to; warnings. The snarl rung through her ears, though why did she not get the right vibe from him? His voice rumbled on after he shifted into a more comfortable, relaxed position. She stiffened as his eyes moved to her scars again, his next statement causing her maw to gape open in shock. Being accused of making people angry was never her intention. With a frown, she swallowed any anger that had surfaced, locking it away. She hated her scars. All of Nocturne’s life, she has been nothing but polite and submissive to everyone. She closed her eyes at his last question, his voice softer. She took it as a sign of hope that he wanted to have the suffocating emotion of being alone melted away.

Opening her eyes again, she spoke, her soft voice a little stronger this time. “I’m neither looking for trouble, nor being nosy. I simply want some company… A friend if you will.” She paused then boldly looked into his eyes directly, despite her instincts to avoid eye contact. “These scars you seem to be interested in are from being spurned from others who never gave me a chance, when I have only showed them kindness.” She bit back bitter remarks of being alone, then burying the pain away, she smiled at him, her soft gold eyes bright with life and a new confidence that blossomed that very moment.

“You say nothing is wrong, but wouldn’t I know those signs better than anyone?” She shook her head, dismissing the statement she made. If the brute wanted to talk about it, he would. He had no business talking about his problems to strangers. Locking her gaze with his again, she grinned, answering his last question, confidence oozing out of her posture. “I’m here to meet you. Now, I need to call you something, don’t I? I can’t just call you Mr. Wolf.” She flattened her ears in embarrassment, realizing how bold she was being. It was always who she was: a bold, cheerful wolf, yet her experiences made her shy and submissive.
