News - SUMMER

Summer has arrived. The world has been well at peace, and others seem to be trying to take advantage. They believe we are lazy and complacent. We are no such thing. Remain vigilante, friends and family.

Give your congratulations to Maiko. She has been promoted to Blizzard; she earned it.

We also have an activity check going. Please reply so I can make adjustments accordingly. Check will go for an entire month so we can hopefully capture everyone.

As always, if you have need of me, do not hesitate to find me.

Meryl had worked very hard on the den he now waited in. Waiting. That was all he could do now. He sat at the den’s entrance ears high on his head as he watched the direction Azrael had left after they had woken up. He hadn’t done much more, he had paced a little, washed his feet then just returned to sit at the den’s entrance. He hadn’t cried since Azrael had put him to work. He was happy that he had given him something to do and hadn’t complained at the hard labor. It was nice to feel useful to his foster father. He had even almost said it, father, but had cut himself off. Meryl wandered if he would ever call Azrael that, he somehow doubted it. There would be puppies soon, Azrael’s puppies, he said it himself that Andromeda would be having them here. Thankfully Meryl now knew where they came from, they came from a mother’s belly, that’s what Pei had said and his mommy had some. The den was fairly larger now than it had been before their work. Meryl was proud of what he had done, and though it seemed Azrael worked three times as faster, they had worked together. He would be sure to share this with Andromeda when Azrael brought her back from that demimonde group, just like he promised.

Though this waiting! It was the easily the hardest thing he had done in his life. He sat staring with his brown and sky-blue flecked eyes forgetting to blink with the focus of his stare. How long had he been sitting here? His whole body was stiff with how on edge the soon-to-be yearling was. The black, brown and white pelted boy merely stared on though, until far in the distance he spotted two very large forms, the darker one unmistakable. He whined, still sitting, for Azrael had told him to stay and wait at the den, but his paws front paws dancing on the ground, the puppy whines growing louder and more high pitched as they grew more near. The pup’s tail wagged furiously behind him, looking like a wild blur as he continued to dance. The boy could see that she was tired, but still beamed at the pair of them as they got closer and closer, when he felt they were close enough the boy had stood he had opened his maw, prepared to dance around the pair of large wolves that were his parents. Mer’s muscles were coiled prepared to make the first little bound but he stopped as soon as he heard the weariness in his mother’s voice.

Was she hurt? Did they hurt her?! Meryl though felt the gentle lick of her tongue on his forhead. The tri-colored boy let out a happy whine tail waving a little more mutely. She seemed so, tired, but he doubted it wasn’t a hard experience for his dear mother. Somehow he would make them pay. Perhaps Azrael was rubbing off on him. His mind jumped into action doing her every order as soon as it left her maw. He glued himself to her side, “Okay Mom.” He trying to mask the worry in his tones. Pei had said nothing about how painful birth was, just that mommies had puppies. She seemed sick, very sick and very much in pain, and soon she had said it. Where the puppies being born hurt? They hurt their mommy? Meryl’s ears fell back he laid next to her staying with her. He looked to Azrael, not happy when he saw the worry in the male’s visage as well. Something was wrong, Azrael knew it, Meryl could only do what his mother had asked of him, curling close to her resting his head on her shoulder watching, feeling the motions he had never felt her make, watching each contraction, worried about its effects. He was so naïve, he didn’t know that this was how birth was.

He just remained silent, eyes darting to Azrael watching his expressions, knowing that he most likely knew more about mommies having puppies than he did. Mer’s head shot up when she had spoke he wasn’t sure what she was talking about. Rosco sounded like a name, but everything else, broken phrases. He looked back to Azrael once more, seeing no recognition, he placed it aside a little whine so soft it could have been masked by his mothers. Each time she did Meryl wanted to right along with her. A cry of worry. He had saw her return very different in his mind. She was well, healthy and happy a dream, but his siblings were being born. It seemed like an awful long time he waited there occasionally lifting his head to look at his mother’s face, wishing he could take her pain away or do anything to make her feel better.

Her body did the strange movement more, faster, and the sounds from his mother’s maw also changed. Meryl lifted his head, watching in wonder when something very strange happened. His eyes grew wide as he saw the bloody mass come out from behind is mother, it wasn’t pretty, and honestly he felt fear, was something wrong? Eyes transfixed on it he wasn’t even aware of how he moved to continue watching when she blocked his view to clean it. He was actually on his paws to see over her, unaware of his own body’s stiffness from being still for so long. Meryl was confused, as he watched her clean the strange object, eating it off then he saw it, a small black ball. He gasped, it was a puppy! The boy was so amazed, though still thoroughly confused on what happened. Meryl remained on his feet watching with wide eyes not sure if he was supposed to be so fixated on the little one. So that was how puppies were born? A smile crossed the boy’s maw unbidden it was strange, a little creepy, but amazing! It seemed like so much work for one puppy, he felt a little bad, having been as small as the newborn not so long ago. Had he caused his mother so much pain as well? Mer almost felt guilty. The chocolate-sky flecked gaze went to Azrael, watching his foster father’s eyes fixed on the little puppy who his mother had called Starfall. His little brother, Meryl noted, looking down at his sibling before watching Azrael. An entirely new look was set on Azrael’s visage, though Meryl couldn’t tell what it was, something he had never seen on the white and red brute’s face before.

Meryl looked back down as it seemed worry once again replaced that strange, but good, look. He watched, again she pushed and again she groaned and again he waited. This time he was aware what was coming, surely Meryl knew there could be more. He had been born with several siblings, just he was the only lucky one to make it this far, Starfall deserved a littermate too, though their mommy seemed so tired. His face fell watching as again she managed to push out a little one, though this time she did not move. Meryl looked to her then looked to the new born, wondering why she hesitated. Something was wrong with their mom. He looked at Azrael who apparently thought along the same lines, moving fast to clean the second born child. Meryl never thought he would see the day Azrael would do that, but then again, they were his. Something panged in his chest, though Meryl wasn’t sure what it was, but he ignored it for now, it was silly to think about. He watched until the puppy cried out, happy that it seemed to be thriving just like their other brother, Azrael picked him up and moved him and Meryl felt relieved for only a moment, replaced with worry again when Andromeda still hadn’t moved.

Azrael’s voice did little to ease it. He sounded desperate and his mother did not move. Immediately his eyes went to his mother’s sides, he was familiar with what death looked like, felt like, he had never talked about it with his new family, but he saw the reassuring site of her sides rising and falling. She was breathing. He placed his head against her neck, it was still warm. Andromeda would not be dying soon, he wanted to tell Azrael this, but it didn’t mean she wouldn’t die. The panic welled up as Azrael told him to stay. “I would never leave!” Meryl retorted his tones a little on edge with the panic, sounding a bit injured himself as if the male had accused him of thinking such a thing. The pup only watched though as Azrael dashed out of the den, for what Meryl wasn’t certain until he heard the loud call burst out, echoing lightly in the den. The curly-furred boy rejoined his mother on the ground, laying his head over her side, feeling her warmth, the steady movement of her breathing, gaze set on his two newborn siblings. He prayed that whatever Azrael was calling for would help, Meryl wasn’t sure if birth was supposed to be like this, but how Azrael acted. Something told the boy that it wasn’t right. Waiting again, how he hated it, feeling so useless to do anything to help her.
