aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Another foreign scent crossed Kal’s nares, and a smile fell upon his kissers. This would be the third new member that he himself would accept as a new member to the pack. It was a good sign to have so many new members in such a short amount of time – the pack was indeed reviving itself. The brute was a bit worried that the previous members – the ones that had been members under Sin’s reign – had been so absent from pack life. But then again, it was to be expected. They had to get used to a new Alpha, and there had not really been any bonding activities. A pack hunt would have to occur. And soon.

The grey brute leaned backward upon his haunches and stretched out his dorsal, his front talons releasing themselves from his paws. The sun was peaking over the tree tops… His hind limbs then pushed off, his strong haunches powering his long stride. Though he started out at a leisurely walk, he soon stretched into a run. Yes, a pack hunt would have to happen soon. He had been used to constant travel for two years and now pack life was making him a bit stiff. A strenuous hunt would be a welcome change.

As he made his way through the dense wood, the brute sped up, swerving almost recklessly on the path. He knew it so well now that there wasn’t much danger for him. Even so, the previous night’s rain had apparently made a large impact on one of the old firs – it was knocked down, probably due to the strong winds that had accompanied the storm. Kal slid underneath it, enjoying the good scratch that the strong needles of the tree provided.

A howl soon reached his audettes, telling that the fae had reached the boundary line. One thing about the terra here – there was always a good wind that brought the scent of strangers upon it, so a lupine would be hard pressed to sneak around unnoticed. Kal paused and lifted his nares to the sky to reacquaint himself with the scent of the feya at the boundary, and he was surprised to find that there was another scent intertwined with it. The brute smiled, and took off again, his paws landing swiftly but silently upon the ground. The nice thing about the nature of the terra was that there were no leafed trees – all had needles. It made for a more silent travel.

And he arrived at the border to catch some of the conversation that was going on between the two ebony faes that crept into his vision. One he knew – It was the pack member named Magic. As for the other, this one was the stranger. Though the two faced each other, it was clear of their separation, the invisible boundary of the terra running like a canyon between the two of them. Kalgalath listened to the pleasantries that occurred, the introductions and a few words about the pack. And then the fae who had named herself as Chenzii spoke up to Magic, refusing to cross the boundary until the alpha had accepted her. Magic’s response was pleasant enough. That is understandable, and it is a pleasure to finally know your name. Kal should be here within a few moments, and I am sure he would be happy to speak with you about joining. I just beat him to it, is all. At that, the fae had barked, her vocals echoing through the wood.

Kal stepped from the shadows of the trees, his chest puffed out and his plume curled over his dorsal line tightly. His muscles were all tensed, and he strutted stiffly up to the boundary line, his large bodice towering over both of the femmes. His turned his focus to Magic first, nodding his cranium curtly. “Thank you, Magic, for attending to this stranger whilst I was busy.” And then the brute turned his cold, icy gaze toward the second eboness. “I overheard some of your conversation. So your name is Chenzii. My own dubbance is Kalgalath, and I am the alpha of this pack. What is your business at my border, fae? Speak quickly and truthfully now. What made you choose this pack and what are your intentions?” The brute fell silent, his gaze unblinking and unwavering as he stared at the fae. His pack was rebuilding itself, and he would not allow any lupines of questionable intentions to join the pack.
