Celdion’s tail began to wag cautiously as the little creature stared back at him. Then it moved suddenly, tapping at his nose with its front foot. The cu-sith moved his head back quickly, before sneezing, his ears flopping forwards. Having recovered he took a step backwards away from the bed and tilted his head a fraction to the right in consideration. Tristan laughed, glancing at Thoth and raising an eyebrow, before glancing back at the two animals. Celidon however, proved to have something of a longer attention span, and soon the little creature was bounding around the bed again. The Prince crossed his arms defensively across his chest, lifting them both out from beneath the blankets, revealing the bandage that was still tightly wrapped around his right.
“You have to take me out in your boat sometime,” Tristan enthused, reaching out a hand, palm up towards the unidentified animal that was playing around his knees. He withdrew it only to accept the little square card that Thoth offered him. The prince studied the picture carefully, glancing from the illustration to the living creature before nodding. “It does look quite similar” he agreed, “she’s a little less blue, though. I haven’t heard of one before though, not in any stories.”

He handed Thoth the card back, and returned his arm to its place across his chest. Celidon whined lightly from his place on the floor, and the Prince sighed, smiling slightly. He patted the empty half of the bed at his side, and the giant green dog leapt up onto the covers, before flopping down on the mattress with a contented sigh. He closed one eyes, but kept the other fixed firmly on the little creature. “Maybe she got lost?” Tristan suggested after a pause, “got separated from her...herd...? pod...?” He shook his head, unsure as to what the collective term for vaporeon was, if there even was one. The picture on the card had not looked particularly realistic. The creature scrambled its way up his arm, its little claws catching on the fabric of the bandage, and settles itself around his shoulders like some kind of scarf, ignorant to the prince’s bruises. He could feel its little heart beating against his skin, and its own flesh had a strange rubbery texture that was quite unlike anything else he had encountered.

Thoth’s next words made the prince frown, and Celidon lifted his head, opening both eyes as he took a renewed interest in the creature. He looked to his fairy with a meaningful expression, his eyes flicking back at forth between Thoth and the creature. “They almost smell the same” the cu-sith’s voice said in the prince’s head. Tristan looked at his friend curiously, “Thoth...” he said slowly, chewing in thought on his lower lip, “when you hold her...does it feel different to when you pick up other animals? Like Atkiss?” Almost as if to confirm the point to himself, the boy reached out to Celidon and rested his hand on top of the cu-sith’s head. The creature gave a little wobble on its perch as Tristan’s shoulders shifted. He tried to think of a better way to explain his question, but found that the sensation was uncommonly difficult to put into words. “I don’t mean physically,” the prince added, chewing his lip again, “I mean...a feeling you get,” he tapped his hand against his chest, “it’s like a feeling, here. You might not have noticed if you weren’t looking for it...”
