The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.
  • We are only as strong as our weakest link. See to it that you are getting stronger in some skill that is useful, whether it is battling, recruiting, charming, etc.
  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.
dust becomes us all

Beschea

As if his thoughts had breathed life into her memory, there is a sudden nicker from straight ahead of him. His heart jumps into his throat as he jerks his head up to meet the eyes of the intruder, and there she is, like a dream. Waiting patiently in the sand as if for his approval. His dark brown eyes blink once, then twice, in surprise. Then he remembers his mother. No! he thinks, glancing sideways at the dark mare. But it is too late; there is no way she could have missed the filly, unless she had suddenly gone deaf. He hovers, uncertain, and is possessed with the sudden strange urge to chase his poor dam away or otherwise jump in front of her in a last bid to prevent her from seeing Arcana. He knows these whims make no sense, but he cannot help it: his body is sweating and trembling with the urge to prevent this encounter from happening just yet. He is not ready.

He knows his mother; El Aran is the type to get involved in anything. She is the lead mare of the desert, after all. It is her duty. Yet as he begins to trot around the far bank of the oasis to meet Arcana, he shoots his dam a look that clearly says, leave it. Frosted black mane and tail streaming like banners, he ascends the dune upon which Arcana is perched and tucks his light-dished head into his chest as he nears her in what he hopes is a gentlemanly gesture of acknowledgement. What is she doing here? he wonders, but dares not ask her just yet. She has grown since he last saw her, or perhaps it is just the effect of perspective; either way, she is taller than him by a couple inches. He tries to ignore this, moving past her and cresting the dune. "I know another place," he says quietly, and begins to descend on the other side, hoping she will follow.
