Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Hit. Hit hard. Hit to live. Hit to eat. Hit to breathe. Heart knew it. He knew he had to strike out with all of his force, everything he had, just to hit. He needed to breathe. He needed to breathe, he needed to eat, he needed to think. Think. Think. Think hit. Think hit hard. Somehow in the scramble of the young man’s head it all made sense. Was he even young anymore? Did it matter anymore? Heart didn’t think so. It wasn’t like he knew either. He never knew. There were very few things that he knew, that he could think through and take hold of. He knew how to hit. That was what Heart knew. He could come alive that way.

One could sustain themselves on rabbits. They could eat the furry creatures that came out in the spring and bred like mad while they did. One could live like that, but they wouldn’t be happy. Frogs too, and field mice, and squirrels—all manners of things that you could put in your mouth and choke down to keep meet on your own bones. It was the life of a loner, and Heart didn’t know how to feel about that. Hell, he knew how he felt about that. There was something in him that still hated to complain. He wouldn’t whine, not unless it was internal. Yes, complaining internally while getting up and doing something about it.

So he found the nearest source of water. Fish was too… fishy. Usually it was too fishy. Still, it was eatable. If there was anything else, why wouldn’t it be here? It had no reason to not be here, close to the water. Living things… living things liked water. They needed water to survive. He would survive as he would… right? Heart thought so. Eventually it made it through his skull that he too was still alive. It was late… early? Just how long had he been awake? The hunter cocked his head to himself, trying to think back and coming up empty handed. The sun was coming up. He hadn’t slept yet.

It’s down by the water that he sees her. There’s a creature, a young woman. She’s pretty. Hell, their race has the potential to be startlingly beautiful… and yes, there she is. She’s rather beautiful. She’s a hunter, just as he is. Heart watches softly from where he sits as the creature pulls a fish from the water and pulls it from life and misery ever so quickly. Admirable, yes. He doesn’t want to impose, so a distance is kept, yet he can’t help but keep words from his lips. Contact with another living thing is so rare in his world… yes, he speaks. “Nice catch.” And that is all. A friendly smile, a twitch of his tail, and yes. That is all.
