aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice

His mostly grey pelt caught against the needles of the fir trees that he travelled past, but the brute hardly noticed it. His nares flared as his lowered muzzle followed the scent of two lupines that had been long absent from his presence. The first, a fae who had not been overly keen on his self-nomination for the position of Alpha, but who had ultimately voted for him, and against the newcomers. The other, his oldest and dearest friend. The two scents had drifted into his olfactories quite suddenly, and the brute was glad for it – though there had been many new members accepted to the pack since he had gained the throne, there had been very little action among the members who had already existed. So their scent being carried upon the wind had sparked in Kalgalath a gladness that had urged him to find them.

As he neared the origin of the two scents, voices began to murmur through the wooded land, though at first they were incoherent. The first set of vocals was a sweet soprano that had been followed by giggling, and though he couldn’t understand the words they were clearly from Zig’s vocals. The second set, a deep baritone, of course belonged to King Kong. The titan slows his pace, thinking of the fae that he hardly knows. She had resided in the pack long before he had, perhaps longer than King Kong had as well, and at the pack meeting where the vote had taken place, she had seemed almost morose. Perhaps it had something to do with the brute that Kong spoke of – the one named Cody. Zig had seemed to quiver at the mention of him, and though Kalgalath would never ask out of politeness, a blanket of curiosity lay comfortably over his thoughts.

Kal knew nothing of this Cody fellow, though apparently the pack was meant to be his in the event of Sin’s death. But he was not here – he was absent from the lands. He had not been there for Sin’s death, nor had he been there for the pack when it grieved over the death of its lost leader. When the vote had occurred, Kalgalath had said that he would turn over the leadership of the back to Cody should he return, but there had been neither sight nor scent of the titan since Kalgalath had become Alpha. Cody didn’t care about the pack… and so Kalgalath found himself reconsidering the words that he had uttered upon his nomination.

A welcome sight brings the brute out of his introvertion and to the present – the two lupines that he searched for finally come into view, the pair of them smiling at each other. The titan keeps his pace slow, not wanting to startle either of them, and not wanting to interrupt their conversation, should it be a private one. His audettes pick up the tailend of the conversation, as words flow from the timber fae’s maw. You know, I think he’s gonna do good for us, for the pack. I think he’s just what we need. A smile creeps upon his kissers, a feeling of gratification seeping through his veins – though she hardly knows him, Zig seems to have a vote of confidence in his leadership.

I am doing my best.” The words slip from his vocals without Kal’s knowledge, his baritone starkly opposite to the fae’s own sweet pitches. His muscled haunches propel him forward once more, and his plume wags slowly as he reaches the pair. His great cranium dips first to Kong, then to Zig in greeting, his icy gaze travelling from one and then the other. “Kong… Zig… it is wonderful to see both of you again. You had been absent from the lands for so long after the vote, I had worried that you had lost confidence in me. ” The Alpha spoke honestly to the pair, seeing no reason to say otherwise, though his vocals remained strong with the aire of assurance that he had recently gained. “I am gladdened to see that you are both doing well.” His haunches collect under himself as the brute lowers his weight toward the ground, his plume curling around his paws as he seats himself upon the earth.
