At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Channing watched the boys face intently, watching for any change or show of emotion that would let her in to the world of Terrel. All she knew was her son was stubborn, too stubborn for his own good sometimes and this situation was obviously doing nothing for his already dismissive personality. As she watched, she could see the cogs turning in his head, no doubt coming up with worse case scenarios that would happen to him and herself if her relationship with Henadin was to continue. The only person that was making it worse for Terrel was... Terrel. His imagination mixed with memories from his own past a created a one mission monster- that mission to destroy her son from the inside out. She could tell (call it a mothers intuition) that the lad was taking it worse than she had ever imagined and although he showed emotions on the surface, something much more robust was bubbling deep inside.

Words fluttered from the timber hued femme’s mouth, but the boy stayed quiet. The only sound that emptied from his mouth was a sigh; and not one of relief. Channing had thought of every possible thing she could to make this situation lighter on the boy but he was making it so unbelievably hard. She didn’t know what was better; the silence or the harsh words. Channing knew that the memories of the lad’s birth mother were no doubt driving him crazy, but Channing would not allow that to happen. She had a good, strong and healthy pack behind her, not to mention Terrel and her own fighting personality so if anything disastrous were to happen there was no doubt in her mind that she would get through it. They both would.

Okay so maybe the pup statement had been a little over exaggerated. It was true... They would have pups, there was certainly young ones on the cards for the future but it would come about sooner than Terrel had been told. She hated having to lie to him, but now she had the idea in her head she couldn’t ignore. She had noticed changes within herself. She had started to become more accustomed to the idea, she had began looking for birthing dens and making plans for the future of her offspring. She actually wanted to be a mother and had become broody whenever she caught a glimpse of some other pups. Channing wanted pups and she wanted them soon, but how would she break it to Terrel? Yet thinking about it, it actually wouldn’t be too hard. She guessed he already had some idea that they were to have little one’s sooner or later and so he would just have to get on with it. Let it now be said, that no matter what happened in the future or how many pups Channing would have, her first would be Terrel and he would never be forgotten. He had made her what she was today and she would never forget that. He was hers... Always had, always will.

That’s when the emotions overwhelmed the brute and he ended up in a heap on the floor, his breathing harsh and raspy. His muzzle and auds flickered uncontrollably and worry overwhelmed the ess. She cared for her ‘little man’ more than he could ever know and seeing him in pain, especially what she had brought upon him, hurt her deeply. However he followed her advice and smoothed his breathing, allowing a small sense of relief to wash over the girl, but he wasn’t over it yet. The femme licked the top of his head, as he leaned against her, hoping to provide at least a little support. ”I’m so sorry Terrel... I really am!” The girl stuttered through a series of whimpers. What had she done to him?
