Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Was this joker making fun of me? Honestly it’s a bit hard to tell, especially with his accent, you’d think a wolf of that age would have picked up a few more words by now, unless his homeland spoke only the one language, never giving him the chance to practice. I hardly know, I hardly care and yet, I get a mild sense the silly fool is attempting to be smart with me. Darling, it has been a long, long time since anyone outsmarted me, hell, even longer since anyone’s had the balls to try and really- I am not amused. I scowled lightly, lip quirking upward into a not-to-friendly smirk of sorts at his little jest. My age is a rather...bitter point and one I am not willing to discuss. Of course, I am willing to unashamedly mock others because of their advanced years, yet when it comes to myself I am often unwilling to share the amusement and this fellow is starting to walk on decidedly thin ice. A foolish thing to do when one is so heavy, no?

“What are you suggesting?”

I inquired non-to daringly, words polite and smooth and yet the undercurrent was clear, that he would do very well to choose his next words on the matter carefully lest I lose my patience. Perhaps I do not rule as King of Trenus anymore, yet Alpha blood does not cool so easily and I see no problem with knocking the big dolt to the floor for his disrespect. I may disrespect anyone I like. I’m a living legend as far as I’m concerned, but him? Well, he can only go so far. Yes, it is decidedly unfair, but who the hell is going to tell me otherwise. He spoke once more on the topic of his children as I inquired about his sons. I already knew the answer of course, Zen had a brother, one I was well acquainted with and indeed I had been content to merely nod and proceed with the conversation, but as it is, this Amissus has decided to annoy me- so maybe I’ll annoy him. It would appear he doesn’t seem to pleased with his son, why that is I hardly know, Sulan has brought nothing but pride to himself and his young family, even with the loss of Dusk I am sure the male will continue to do well. Violet eyes flickered wryly, teasingly. Let’s have a little fun with the wolf who dared to suggest I might be close to having a heart attack. I was going to pretend not to know Sulan, but I’ve changed my mind.

“Sulan? Hmm, I know that name. In fact, I know that wolf. He ruled Glorall for a time, quite a good leader too. I’ve known Sulan a few years now and he’s never mentioned you....”

One eye lifted once more, probing teasingly towards him for no other reason than because I could, tail flicking once more before he spoke somewhat vaguely about Baphomet’s spawn. I knew the male had fathered something to add to his sad little collection of ugly children and wether this fellow wanted to share it with me or not I hardly cared, I would find out in time, that fact that he was reluctant to share such information generally indicated there was something to be shared- or hidden. That was all I needed to know. Perhaps I would send another to dig about for me, I hardly need bother with trivial things any longer, nodding somewhat absentmindedly, dismissively. His final sentence however, brought any easy laugh to my lips, chuckling with actual humour in this moment.

“Control myself? Dear Amissus, I hardly know how success is measured where you come from, yet the law of nature itself decrees that only the fittest survive, only the most exceptional live to breed and pass on their qualities, by my interpretation, fourteen children only proves how entirely successful I am. Not that your few pups are not- impressive, I suppose. One son though? Surely you could have done better then just one?”

So I’m getting a little snarky, why not? I like playing games.
