 Then I'll be a fool. The prince title is purely up to you. What happened next seemed to occur in slow motion. She could see the light on his cloak shift and her portals looked up, the smile fading a bit before a bit of fear flashed in their depths-- his razors tapped lovebites onto her shoulder blade and her listeners twirled in confusion. He stopped before she could return the stupid favor and he swung away, dashing through the passageway that she had come through just minutes before. Minutes before both their feelings had been exposed like the vitals during a submission. Her heart pounded against her chest cavity and she turned in the direction he had disappeared to. Should she run after him? A moment of hesitation was enough to reveal what was going through her head. What if he truly was playing with her? What if she was encouraging him? But it seemed unlikely that he would go that far to mess with her pretty little head. So her pillars danced forward gracefully, twirling towards him, closing the distance as she pushed a sprint and very nearly caught up to him. Her lithe bodice did not catch on any stray pebbles this time... she did not trip, she did not fall, and she did not collide with a wall as she had done before. She kept the charcoal and crimson muscled beast in her line of vision, dashing towards the light. It was significant. It would always be significant. Everything never happened because of coincidence. There was no such thing as that... it was only inevitability that led souls down the paths of their fates. Sure, you could change what happened to you by taking different paths, but your fate would always come up with an outcome. Nikandros was most definitely not a coincidence. His conception, his birth, his past actions. Kohaku was also not coincidence. The union between an angel and a demon had resulted in two babes and she had gone through trials and tribulations that tested her ability to live in this world. Her mother dying... perhaps it had been one of the best things that had ever happened to her. Not only had she found her sire and her sibling, but she had also found Malignant. She had found the son of an aristocrat. She had denied his existence, but he had acknowledged hers. A smile, perhaps? A brief glance in his direction? A small occurence must have happened... for fate would have chosen a different path had she not done such a thing. If he himself had not done such a thing. What a silly thing this inevitability was... a silly and curious thing that kept the world running. Kohaku caught up next to the demon, the places where he had touched her... they were burning. She winced at that. They throbbed, as if her body knew that she, secretly, wanted to be touched again. She yearned for that scent. She would have stopped right there, slammed on the brakes and watched him continue to sprint. But she didn't want to stop moving. She was, in all honesty, frightened tha he would leave her. That she would lose sight of him. Which was ridiculous, because not an hour ago, she could have turned around and gone back to Malignant. She could have established a different sort of bond with a different wolf. She could have seated herself under a blooming tree, rested in its shade so that the summer heat did not make her flesh melt. But she had not turned back. And so she kept running now, her shoulder brushing up against the soldier's thigh beside her. Wherever the hell he was going, she was going to be right there, a step or two behind him, but she would still be there nonetheless. In any case, Kohaku did not ask where they were going.
