While relief filled Alana at the knowledge that the others who left were not killed or forced out, it did make her mentally pause for a moment, focusing on the notion of having a homeland to return to. She and her mother had always wandered and then after her mother’s death, she had wandered herself until she met Leviathan. Imagine that. A homeland to return to when things went badly wherever you were. Alana thought that would be quite a comfort, knowing that however bad a situation might be, there would always be a way out, another option. And to have an imprint, someone who would never leave your side, someone who was always there to watch your back. Alana couldn’t imagine a bigger comfort than that.
She nodded slightly as d’Mani referenced the late alpha. She wondered what would happen once someone new took over. Hopefully this new leader wouldn’t be too harsh. She knew that her slight build would make her an easy target if any felt like putting her in her place.
Alana’s ears perked up as d’Mani spoke of the ocean. Her mother had told her about it once, the danger and the beauty of it.
“I’ve never seen it before, but I would love to!” While her voice was still quiet, the excitement within her shone through her yellow-green eyes. “Is it far from here?”
After they had wandered for a minute, Alana a half step behind d’Mani, she spoke again, “You said you did not know the old king well. Have you been here long?”
