The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

How lonely is the night without the howl of the wolf? {BIRTHING-open}

The bump forming on her abdomen had been growing every passing day, filling the wolfess with more emotion than possible. Her hormones had been running wild causing her to act in ways she never had before. Some of the emotions she hated. She had been growing irritable and angry and had begun to push everyone away but that was only on the odd occasion. Most days she was her usual happy go lucky self and that was the case for today. Today Channing felt proud and broody and happy at everything in the world. It felt like she could conquer everything and win. The sun had forced the clouds away and was doing a fine job of heating the world. Although there was a refreshingly cold breeze that fluttered past every so often, meaning the heavily pregnant ess wasn’t uncomfortably hot on this wonderfully perfect day.

Although heavily pregnant and feeling the pups kick her bladder every so often, Channing was still a month away from her due date. She had hoped from day one that she would carry the pup’s full term and she had a good feeling that her hopes would come true; unlike other wishes she had. Henadin and Terrel, well Terrel mainly, were still not as friendly as she had hoped them to be. They still had their disagreements from time to time which drove the girl mad but she had to accept the fact that Terrel would always find it difficult. All that mattered was that she loved him; always had always will. She had also gained a new family member in the form of Kahlan, Henadin’s sister. She was the complete opposite of her sibling and wasn’t afraid to start a conversation. She was talkative but lovely all the same and would no doubt make a great aunt when the time came. Moth and other members of the pack had also shown their happiness about the pregnancy. It was greatly reassuring to know that the pack were one hundred percent behind her decision and would be like a tight knit family to support her and the pups throughout.

With the invincible feeling stuck fast in her bodice the timber ess had left the safety and comfort of the pack lands. With no particular destination in mind the lengthy legs of the ess took off over the terra, although her strides were a lot slower than usual; her main focus on protecting the precious cargo she was carrying. Her legs took her past many places she had been before, Romance River was one; the sight causing a smile to grow on her face. If Kahlan hadn’t have forced Henadin to go to the river then Channing wouldn’t have been wandering past with unborn pups moving round in her womb. Another place she passed was Staircase Falls, a place that held many good and bad memories. This was the place Channing had found Terrel; she had fallen in love with him then and there and couldn’t think of any better pup to share her life with. She never regretted the decision to adopt her son and never would. He was part of her life no matter what; she only hoped he knew that. Stopping her strides momentarily the ess gazed over the staircase shaped rock formation. A small smile growing on her kissers before a sigh erupted from her lips. She hadn’t seen her son recently and could only hope that he was doing better than he had been at their last meeting.

With thoughts of her son buzzing round her mind the femme carried on with her walk though she didn’t get very far before her wary legs and tiring body began to kick in. Stopping still Channing started to plan out the fastest route to get back to Saw Tooth and the quiet of her den. Hopefully Henadin would be there and the timber ess could cuddle with her mate. She would also have to talk to Terrel when she got home. There was no doubt that he would have heard about her news and would probably have something to say, but there was no time like the present to talk things through. Deciding that the quickest route home was to walk past the borders of neighbouring packs the femme turned slowly making her way past Malignant Felicity and making sure to stay as far away from the borders as possible. Hiding her form in the bushes was harder than she had expected it to be but she by passed the pack without any problems. The next pack to wander past was Abendrot. Channing had heard many stories of what the pack were capable of and in her state she would be no match for the soldiers if they were to spot her. With that idea in mind the female was just about to pick up the pace when a pain shot through her bodice.

Terror flashed through the girl’s orbs as the crippling pain brought her to her knees. In what seemed like seconds Channing was laid on the floor panting heavily as the aching left her bodice once again. Now out in the open and exposed to any passing wolf, Channing tried to stay quiet continuously panting in order to ride out the pain. It was coming from her abdomen and could only mean one thing... The pups were coming. After ten minutes of being on her own, Channing’s emotions began to get the better of her as a series of whimpers escaped her maw. Not only was she on her own but her offspring were coming and they were premature. The contractions began to lengthen and cause excruciating pain to wave through the girl’s body crippling her and forcing her to tense up into a ball. Only Tor and Fenris could decide what happened to her now... If only someone where there to help.
