aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

The mistress could feel his blistering, irritated eyes penetrate into the back of her; tension salted the air with lingered over the king like an invisible cloak. And yet still, Leila did not stir. It had occurred before in his company. She had tossed water up into his face. The phantom had quivered under his stare upon that intriguing day but that was not this day. It did not falter her; Leila remained still. She was not rebellious under his reign but nor was she a doormat. From her younger days, defiance surfaced like distant memories. And finally she could sense the tension slip gently away, the anger of her friend was not a desirable thing though she strongly doubted she would be under it for long. There was only one goal in her mind; to introduce herself and she felt compelled to do so. She had little friends around the pack and one only of her age. So far she had encountered only pups but more pups were not anticipated. They were cute but only at certain points of the day. She was certain that the stranger would need some friends too – the foreigner had only just moved homes… Imagine how daunting that would be; at least she had known Kalgalath here.

‘Hellene, I will grant you admission to this pack as a member. Know, and beware, that you have none of my trust. Your past is troubling, especially with you arriving at my border with another scent still upon your pelt. Be a good pack member and contribute, and you shall earn my trust in time. Betray us, and you shall have a real reason to quake when I approach.’ Leila’s eyes creased – she had never heard him with such threat in his voice. It propelled a shiver to cascade down her spine. Still the words were laced down with wariness, fatigue would also have a factor in it, the phantom assumed. The enchantress still remained silent, aware that Kalgalath would not doubt have more to add. ‘Would one of you show her around the pack lands? A quick tour will do just fine. It smells like rain, and I would hate for either of you to catch a cold, especially with the nights becoming brisker.’

“Of course, get some rest, Kally.” Her words trailed off like distant echoes. His judgements had been stronger, more judgemental and his icy gaze was weary. She swivelled her head to the two remaining characters. The brute was there, offering the service of a tour. Well, it appeared she wasn’t needed here. “Well I guess I’ll see you two soon then.” She didn’t want to intrude in their company. Slowly she declined in the direction of groves.
