At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

“I recently came to this area. I joined a pack, Aurora Borealis. I like it there, everyone I have met so far has been very friendly. I decided to explore the area outside the territory, which is what brought me here. I had no idea that I would find you.” Lucien nodded, still in shock. He had heard the talk of Aurora Borealis; apparently it was a fair pack, it's Alpha kind. He was happy that someone had been looking out for his beloved sister, when he was not around to do such. The thought that they had both been so close, yet so far away tore at his heart. What if he hadn't come across her today? The thought caused pain to flash briefly through his heart. “Are you in a pack?” To this, he shook his head. "No, I prefer the life of a loner," he admitted to her softly. She could probably understand his reasons why, if she didn't share them. They both had skeletons in their closets just waiting to be rattled in different ways. "But you probably already guessed that didn't you?" He teased softly, well aware after even all this time she knew him so well. Some things never change, apparently. "But enough about my boring life. What about you, Chenzii?" He smiled softly, showing his canines. "Do you have a mate now? Maybe even pups? Do you like your pack? What's happened since we were separated?" Lucien knew he was uncharacteristically bombarding her with questions, but he wanted to know she had been okay in his absence. That she was still okay, and functioning. He shuddered delicately at the thoughts of what could've happened to both of them in the times of their separation. Before he could prevent it, a vivid image appeared in his mind eye, of those bright yellow eyes, misty and clouded over, staring sightlessly at nothing...A tremor ran through him as he banished the thoughts. Chenzii was fine, standing right in front of him. She could take care of herself. So why was he suddenly so terrified of losing her again? |
