Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

His energy is off and I take a moment to try to reason out why? His sister and family was well, at least to my knowledge they were so I was puzzled to why the air seemed to dull and the color pale when next to him. Ears perk as he says my name, returning my greeting with the same quickness and curtness that I had delivered his. Eyes narrow for but a second, a dead giveaway that I had indeed noticed his lack of enthusiasim. His lack of challenge and the over all, gentleness, his aura screamed. My mind read this as weakness, begged me to challenge him, to destroy whatever it was that had took him down several pegs. For it was the dominate part of me that called for survival of the fitness. However having lived with my Rainbow I knew patience and that instinct should be evaluated.

After our embrace I settle down beside him. I cared not that he pulled away, I was about to end the contact anyway for such a thing was alien to me. I never showed such…compassion toward another male for males are for proving ones worth. Yet, to say I did not feel brotherly toward Flame would be a lie and it just felt right to embrace him even if it was brief.

”That I understand. Pity though for home is beautiful but lacking.” I grow silent, thinking about my own forays outside the pack and wondering if he too felt an itch to roam. I was adopted, like he, and knew not the touch of my birth mother. I knew not the sound of my birth father and I felt like an outcast. I spent my days stalking the princess, jealousy burning a hot wedge into my soul. ”And why not? You are the closest to a family that I have.” It was not until the words left my mouth did I realize that they were the truth. Sistermine was not mine yet even she was scarce these days. Rainbow was always off doing one thing or another so who did that leave? The fiery boy who dared challenge me. Who dared earn my respect though he would never know it. ”Say why don’t we embark on our own adventure. I’m sure together we can see much more and do much more.” I say this without looking at him. Staring out at the view. Was I scared he would deny partnering up with me? Well maybe. IT would mean that even the last one I knew did not care for my presence anyway. ”Besides I’m sure Rhiannon would like me better if I knew more of the world.” I let jest enter my voice, cutting my gaze finally his way.
