Adara was in shock. She couldn’t believe that it had been this easy to find her father. She had so many emotions running through her head. She suddenly felt like a pup again, lost and alone. She felt like she could no longer trust her mother. How could she have kept her and Rohan so distant from their father when it was this easy to find him. And he said he didn’t even know he had children so there was no way that he could have gone after them! She was upset with herself that she had let her emotions show and that she had spoken so weakly in front of everyone. Sometimes she wished that she could be more like her brother and not always seem so weak with emotion. Her father didn’t even know that he had three children, and the third wasn’t there. Adara could barely remember her other brother, Aindreas, but she always wondered why mother had left him. It never seemed fair to her, but she was too young to have done anything about it. She felt bad now that she had never tried to find him later, he was family and she should have done something before now to try and find him. Like always, her brother appeared by her side to help her. He knew that she was upset and confused and he came to her aid, like he always did. He sat close to her, their pelts touching, as he wrapped his head protectively around her. He leaned into his warmth for support, she could always count on him to be there for her. She knew that if anything were to happen to him she would be entirely lost.
Adara realized that she had zoned out slightly with her thoughts of regret and confusion, but she had heard snipets. She started focusing again as her mother began to speak to Kalgalath again, “Aindreas is your kin, as are my daughter, our daughter, Adara, and our son, Rohan. Nothing that I’ve done is any fault of theirs. You may hate me, but if you must, I beg you to do so silently. Like you, they are merely victims.” She was shocked to hear such words come out of her mother. She was entirely taking the blame for what she had done, and Adara didn’t know how to feel about that. She knew there was no blame on her father, but it felt weird to hear her mother so hurt and upset. She wanted to comfort her, but in a way she felt like her mother was to blame for this, and she didn’t know what to do. She was so confused, her mother was her family, but she was upset with her.
After her mother finished speaking another wolf made his way into the clearing, one she thought she would never see again. The white pelt of her other brother made his way into the clearing. He spoke up as he made his appearance, “I’m surprised you remember my name, mother. Considering you left me. Apparently just as you left him.” She saw him look towards Kalgalath and she wondered if he knew that he was their father. She was glad to see that her other brother looked so good and that he had been able to find somewhere that he could live. She had worried about him and guilt again made its way into her heart. She felt as if she had let him down. The silver femme had no idea what he expected from her, if he had expected anything but it must have hurt when her and Rohan had never come looking for him.
After Aindreas ended his words, her brother spoke up, speaking openly, something he almost never did, “We were never both of your children. We were your children Nika. Kal was the father that never existed because you ran in fear. We never knew what a fathers love was or even is. I never understood what it was like to be a pup playing without fear. I met my brother, Aindreas. He doesn’t believe we are brothers because of this! By blood we a kin but we have no memories of each other! The brother I never had, the FATHER I never had. Maybe I’ll never understand why you did what you did but it hurts like Hell.” Adara’s heart broke hearing her brother’s words. She knew he was angry, but above all he was hurt. He had stood up to see if their mother needed any comfort when she had spoken her last words so he was no longer as close to Adara. This time it was her turn to comfort him. She stepped towards him instinctively, standing protectively next to him, shoulder to shoulder, the tip of her tail reaching to touch him, to let him know that she was there. She would always be there for him, no matter what, they would stick together.
After Rohan’s words Aindreas had gotten closer to the group, dipping his head in greeting and smiling slightly to Rohan. Adara’s bright blue eyes then met Aindreas. He, like the rest of them, shared the same startling eyes that she had. She smiled when she saw her brother for the first time in many years, getting ready to speak, but Aidnreas beat her to it, “How dare you come back, mother, speaking of family when you were the one who broke us all up!” She didn’t know what to do after her two brother’s outburst. They had every right to be angry, Aindreas especially, and she was angry as well, but she didn’t know what to say to her mother. She was softer spoken than either of her brothers and her emotions showed often on her face. She was so confused this time, she didn’t know what to think. She looked towards her newly found father, but he seemed to be lost and confused as well. She finally found the courage to speak, deciding to address Aindreas first. She looked in his direction, seeing the anger and hurt in his eyes, wishing that she could comfort him, but was not sure how he would react to her touch so for now she decided to keep her distance. “Hello Aindreas,” she kept her voice soft at first, not sure how he would react to her speaking to him after so many years, “It is good to see that you look so well. I…I always worried about you after what happened. I am truly sorry that I never came to your aid, I feel as if I let you down as a sister, if you still see me as a sister.” The pain was thick in her voice as she spoke to him, leaning into Rohan again to try and get some strength from him like she always did. The femme opened her maw to continue speaking, “Mother, I feel the same as Aindreas and Rohan. Why did you split us all up? We could have all been a family. You, me, Rohan, Aindreas….and Kalgalath.” She looked towards her father with this last word, unsure of how to address him, emotions still swirling in her mind.
