At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Find Me in the Darkness

As she had ran off in the woods toward Spring Grounds, Zev’s voice followed her, echoing through the dense thicket. Wait, what? Athene, wait. Athene? Athene! But she had no time to wait and there were no words nor rhymes that came to mind. All that she could think of was her guilt at leaving her sister, and worry as to whether or not her sister was actually there.

After she had returned to him and dressed his wounds, she laid her head upon his front legs. The faintest scent of fish laying upon him making her realize just how hungry she was. She had not been able to think of anything other than her sister as of late. The brute gently shuffled his form so that his pelt was against hers and his bodice pressed against her own form. Athene leaned him and moved her cranium under his neck, finding herself comforted by his presence and his nearness. His muzzle neared her auds and she was surprised to find a warm tingle run through her form as he spoke to her quietly. We will find her. We will find your sister. All grew silent, and Athene found herself listening to the wind whistling through the trees, and the gentle lapping of the cascade’s eddy against the shore. Then his vocals rang out once more. If you feel like talking about her, tell me a little about your sister; talking a lite bit will help you. Athene gently shook her head. She didn’t really wish to speak about it, but she did anyway.

Hellene is my twin sister, and I left her. I made her join a pack, for company we did lack. To do so was against her will, so love for the pack I tried to instill. But then adventures I went to seek and the caverns I did streak. First I met you and then I fell, into the cavern I meant, into the cell. Together we lost track of time, and I promise I’m almost at the end of this rhyme. When I returned to Spring Grounds, what I saw made me dumbfound. The Alphess is gone my sister too. And now, I do not know what to do. For I know no one in that pack, meaning that I have no reason to go back. As for Hellene I do not know where she is. Here or there, or in between.” The fae fell silent, her bank of words having been run out. She closed her lids then and rested; the amount of poppy seeds she had ingested finally affecting her consciousness and sending her into silence.

But as she lay there, pressed against the brute, she knew, somehow, that it would be alright. A soft rose out of her chest.
