The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Dark eyes gazed lazily over the terrain from her perch. Aerten had been laying low for a while now, watching and waiting in case she was needed. Whispers travelled, and from what she was aware they'd had a little...unplanned "visit" from a heavily pregnant Saw Tooth ess, who had since given birth somewhere in the depths of the lands. She was no healer, and so the girl had remained scarce during the ordeal, not at all willing to have to deal with a hormonal mother and wailing pups. She'd leave that to people who had a better understanding of such things.

Right now, she was sprawled out across a largish boulder, attending to a few remaining scratches across her left shoulder, invisible against her russet coat. Too bad, she quite enjoyed earning a few new scars every now and then, obvious by a noticeable elegant one that drew the eye to her muzzle. They tended to come with good life lessons, and besides, she wasn't overly concerned about things such as beauty.

A fairly familiar scent washed across her nares, and she shifted slightly, remembering the girl who had taken action during the floods. Aerten was pretty sure her name was Winn Dixie, but she wasn't overly sure about that. Rising easily to her feet, she stretched out, grateful for the way her lean muscles responded easily, any earlier discomforts tossed aside easily. Trotting across the ground, she concentrated on her new task, of learning more about this particular femme. Stargazers searched for a pinto-coloured coat, and soon enough, she found it.

Winn Dixie appeared to be scenting the air, and seeing the tell-tale signs of a wolf on a hunt, Aerten allowed her footfalls to fade into silence, giving her the resemblance of a ghost. Catching the familiar scent of rabbit, she circled around so she did not interrupt the girl's prey-hunt, instead coming to rest not far from her as she watched with renewed interest. Once the girl was finished, she might consider letting lyrics flow of her slips, but for now she was content to let silence pass between them until a time came when words were more...fitting.
