News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

In light of recent events, border patrol had fallen to Alcide. He moved easily along the outskirts of the pack, refreshing markers that had become stale over the past months. Although this would typically be the duty of a scout of Spirane, it seemed in recent times that the pack’s population was dwindling. It was not that someone had tried to finagle their way out of border patrol. There just wasn't anyone else around to do it. Those who still called the mountain home had receded into the woodworks and hidden valleys within the range. Spirane had grown eerily quiet; it was no longer a peaceable silence. It was the hush of a ghost town. And Alcide disliked it very much. True, Alcide liked his times of solitude, but this was leaning towards a new extreme that could no longer be tolerated. So Alcide swept along the borders, reminding foreigners that this was a claimed land, but that new members would be taken into account if they only made their presence known.

When he came across Godric’s scent he was taken aback. Alcide had nearly passed right over the trail of scent, but locked his legs and came to an abrupt halt. He turned on a dime and returned to the location where his brother had obviously crossed into Spirane. Pressing his nose into the ground he inhaled deeply. This was most definitely Godric. Lifting his head he turned his gaze inward, left ear pricking forward attentively while the tip of his right ear flopped down in its mangled state. He waited there for a moment, listening for some sort of announcement of his brother’s arrival. Surely enough a bark echoed off the mountain, bouncing back to him. It was the unmistakable call of his brother. Taking off at a run, Alcide loosely followed his brother’s trail, but he knew these lands better than anyone else. He dodged through a few shortcuts that would bring him to his brother’s location all the quicker.

He erupted from the underbrush to stand before his brother. The two wolves looked strikingly similar, both a picture of their father, though Godric had received more white from their mother than Alcide had. The alphen’s legs were completely rigid and his tail curled over his back in a show of both dominance and excitement. He stretched his neck forward to sniff at the other wolf, making sure his eyes were not deceiving him. It had been a few years since they had stood face to face, and Godric would certainly notice the toll time and defending a homeland had taken on Alcide. Scars littered the right side of his face – most had faded now, hidden by the regrowth of hair, but there was one prominent mark where Tesseract’s fang had sliced down his cheek – and most noticeable was the useless flaps of the top inch of his right ear. Besides that, however, Alcide was the picture of a healthy wolf. Pack life could do that for a wolf.

Posture still somewhat rigid from the excitement of their reunion, Alcide delved forward and crashed his shoulder into that of his brother. When Alcide had left their parents’ pack Godric had only been a pup, but even then the two had rough housed as if they were equal in size. When they had briefly reunited before the sky fell, they had tested each other’s strengths on a regular basis. It had kept them both on their toes, as one had to be when one lived the life of a rogue. Now, however, it was merely a gesture of greeting. “Godric, my brother,” he said, baritones laced with evident excitement. He then lifted onto his hind legs and wrapped his forelegs around his brother’s neck in a playful hug, darting forward to teasingly bite the side of Godric’s neck before disengaging and landing on all four paws once more. His tail waved over his back, hoping that Godric was here to stay. It was exactly what he needed right now – someone he could truly depend on.
