aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice

Oh, very very happy, actually, dear. Kalgalath smiled as she giggled, and the sound of their two vocals intertwining with laughter sounded right. It was strong, happy, and full of love. Hope. It echoed how the pack had changed so much. It had been dumped into the trash, rolled around and beaten up. But it had come back to life and was full of vim and vigor. It had the current warriors that would keep it alive and it had pups that would continue its strength in the future. Just as I deal with everything life throws at me, Kalgalath. One step at a time. She grinned at him, her amber orbs twinkling brightly. The mottled grey brute nuzzled against her once more – she would be a great Alphess. She was so caring and, when calm, could be so calm-headed.

As they traveled to the border, she hung back a little, but even so he heard her plume swaying, offsetting the airpockets behind them. After Kal spoke about no one being very surprised, she immediately caught on. Kong. The Alpha nodded his head. Aye, Kong. He’s been overly quiet lately, but he has noticed everything. Our looks, our touch… I think everyone noticed. Except Nika. He still had to tell her all of his newly discovered offspring. He didn’t know how they would take it, but he would figure out a way. “Zig…” But he was caught off quickly. Catch me if you can! Her form rubbed up against his and then she was ahead of him in the blink of an eye, her vocals ringing out as she looked back at him, they were ringing out beautifully and echoed throughout his audettes.

He hesistated, too overwhelmed in watching her form to register her words. Just before she slipped out of sight, his haunches powered his form after her, launching into motion. He followed her through the dense trees that filled their terra, and although he thought it would be easy to catch up, he was surprised at how swift she was. Still, his long limbs were used to his advantage and slowly, he caught up to her. Instead of running directly behind her, he swirved to the side so he was running beside her, a thin thicket of trees between them, and once he was sure that he had passed her, he took a deep breath and jumped through the treeline, hopefully landing directly in front of her. “Gotcha!

The brute looked around – they had surprisingly made it directly to the edge of the boundary, which lay not even five feet away. His nares flared as he took in the scent that made up the invisible wall. It was still strong. But it was wrong now, for it marked only his presence, and not that of their joined ruling. His queen’s own perfume needed to be added. “We might as well start here, my love.” Kalgalath gestured to the boundary, which was surprisingly free of marked trees. Though many lupines chose that path to mark their terra, it eventually would kill the trees as it stripped their bark. He used his natural excretions for marking, but he would leave it up to her how to leave her mark.

As he waited for her to perform the task, he thought back to his kin. How would he break the news to them? They had only met each other, he didn't want to ruin it now. It was going to be fine. It had to be. But his mind shifted to another matter. "Zig, my dear, I do not know if you have heard, but Moth is defending her pack right now. I heard that a pack of wolves attacked Saw Tooth not long ago, and she has only just been called by a stranger who was challenging for the position of Alpha. I do not know how she faired in the fight, but I feel that to honor our alliance, we should offer our support. In the next day or so I will travel there, perhaps bring a meal or just our presence. While I am gone, will you care for our daughter?"
