Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

It's an odd feeling to be in love with someone Fate deems worthy. Someone you hardly know and only just met. But the bound is too strong to ignore and to some they feel trapped. When Iblis had been imprinted to Jaidah, he had been dragged through hell on a golden chain. He had been imprisoned by her and he hated Fate for what it had done to him. Then, one day, he felt that bound snap. It was painful at first, almost driving him to the point of madness, but the further he pulled away from Moladion the more and more the pain eased. Iblis was freed from the chains of a demon and when the time came he returned to his home. Only to be bound once again by the hands of Fate. Only this time it had been different. Rather than a demon, Iblis had been given an angel. Rhae. Simply thinking of her name made him shiver as he thought about her beautiful form. Her sandstone fur and ocean blue eyes. The lone warrior had always had a fondness for the sea and longed to get lost in her eyes. As paws carried the small wolf further away from Diveen, he thought more and more about Rhae and less about the upcoming war. It was there still, however, nagging at the back of his mind trying to remind him about the grim task at hand.

It was her scent that pushed the war away completely. A gentle breeze that hadn't been there before drifted down in his direction and he stopped in his tracks to take in the wonderful scent. She was here. Rhae had come for him! Moments later, her bark filled the morning air like a crystal bell and Iblis answered with his own gruff sound. They seemed to go well with each other and the barks echoed in the forest for a moment as if cherishing being together. Then the noise faded leaving the woods quiet again. But only for a moment. Rhae's larger form leaped towards Iblis and she slid to a halt beside him, almost knocking the small male down. He hadn't even flinched knowing she would stop in time before crashing into him. Her muzzle moved smoothly along his neck and Iblis matched her movement as he glided his own muzzle along her soft fur. Suddenly, all his worries and fears were gone and for just this moment it was just the two of them alone in the world. There was no war. There were no packs. It was only Iblis and Rhae. He didn't know how long they embraced, but it wasn't long enough as she pulled away and spoke, her voice like honey.

Iblis smiled and nodded his head. "It would seem my queen has found me again at last. I am sorry I have been elusive. Such is the way of a wanted warrior. How have you been, Rhae?" It was a rare gift for a man to be genuinely interested in the activities of his female companion. But Iblis was an odd wolf and he waited for her to speak, all the while nodding and listening to her voice. Then, there came a distant sound suddenly. It was a battle cry echoing from the close pack of Iromar. War was upon them. The blissful state Iblis had found himself in came crashing down around him like shattered glass and he felt his heart sink into his paws. Suddenly he knew the real reason Rhae had found him. Why she was actually here. Fate had given him the chance to say goodbye. And he was going to take it. A sad look flashed across Iblis' features before being replaced with a grim determination.

"Rhae, I am glad you're here. I needed to talk to you. I needed to say... to say..." It was hard to form the words and the scarred wolf could feel a lump forming in his throat. "To say goodbye. War has come to the land and I am going with the angels to fight the darkness that has tried to take over. I may not come back. There are many fangs within Iromar that wish to tear my throat out." He paused, realizing the words were coming out wrong and he growled at himself for his stupidity. Why was it so hard to talk to her!? Clearing his throat he took a deep breath and started again. "I wanted to say goodbye, in case I don't return...", Iblis finished at last, gazing up with golden brown eyes to see how his imprint would react to this news.
