It was weird that the daddy’s girl no longer had a daddy. No longer had either daddy… she’d started with two and everything. It was sorta weird, watching them just… go. It made her sad. Delya didn’t like being sad. She didn’t like feeling like this, the sad that welled up in her chest. She had Auntie Alice, and that was nice but… but… what? Delya didn’t really know what she was doing. She needed something that she could do, and that was something that she didn’t like. To be perfectly honest, she didn’t like being sad. The girl was too happy for that.
So here she was. The slight girl peered up at the rocks, wondering what it would take to make that first step. Wide eyes. Pretty eyes. Daddy’s eyes. They were wonderful and glimmering in her head as she watched. It was Makism’s gaze, and that was something that was pretty cool. It was his gaze, and she would think this through like he would. How would daddy have done in? It’s with the man’s voice in her head, a guiding hand for a baby girl riding a bike for the very first time. One foot, two feet, and up on the rocks. Think, think, leap.
And up she leapt, eyes bright and shining. Delya made it, and she couldn’t help it. Her tail wagged, silky coat slinging to her body for a long moment. This was right. She could do it. A soft bark resonated in her throat, the pride in achievement… if only dad could see her. Though she only sits about six feet up, the girl feels like she’s on top of the world. In reality, Delya is on top of her own world… and all she can think about is how badly she misses her daddies.
