Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

This is not where Adina had seen herself five minutes ago. The squirrel was long gone, having already scurried up a tree to get back to safety from the “big bad wolf”. Her stomach was grumbling from the lack of food and her energy had been wasted for the next few minutes. Adina rolled back to her stomach and let her tongue loll from her mouth. She let her guard down, letting her surroundings engulf her and allowing her eyelids fall ever so slightly. She was done with trying for a meal today. Her stomach could wait until early in the morning when a rabbit was lazily making his rounds to dig for dead clover under the snow. The thought of a fat, juicy rabbit let a drop of saliva slip from her tongue onto the cold ground beneath her. A whine escaped from her lips and she shook her head slightly to escape from the thought of a meal.

Adina barely heard the footsteps coming from beside her. Her ears twitched back with instinct; neither with fear nor anger. Having scanned the other female briefly she found no sign of a scuttle in their future. Her head cocked slightly to the side. “I guess not. That’s never happened before.” Though, she did catch a view of the succulent rabbit between her teeth. The smell was enticing as well. It was surprising when the girl dropped the rabbit to her feet. Shocked, Adina stood and stared gently at the female. It was a thankful gesture as she gripped the rabbit between her forepaws and ripped the hind right leg from the plump rodent. Warm blood oozed from the freshly caught meal, filling Adina’s mouth with a taste of iron and energy. Her mouth watered still with anticipation and she nudged a little less than half of the rabbit to the other wolf. “I couldn’t eat all of this by myself. Thank you so much.”

With her belly satisfied from the rabbit and her white fur stained with the blood, she is content. “Jagger. That’s a lovely name. My name is…” but she was interrupted before she could finish. Adina’s head snapped to the side, eyeing the younger male now standing a few feet from the newly acquainted pair. Her eyes shifted from the male to the rabbit between the two and she noticed him doing the same before he spoke. “I’m Adina.” Adina shifted her body weight up onto her legs. With one quick shake, her fur puffed from all sides except for the matted parts where the blood was beginning to dry and freeze. She would have to lick herself diligently later. Now was not the time to be bathing.

“Are you hungry?” She looked down at the dismembered rabbit, now a pile of flesh and blood instead of an actual rabbit. “A young wolf like you needs nutrition you know. Or else you’ll never grow like you’re supposed to.”

Adina’s eyes trailed to Jagger then. Her tail thumped against the ground slightly. “Are you new here?”
