Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Spring.

The word tasted strange in Raki's mouth. Spring, the season in which young were born. His mother had always celebrated the coming of spring- she celebrated the birthdays of her pups and mate, the new life brought forth, the end of winter. She'd always seen reason to celebrate in nearly everything. The coming of the rains, her pups' first hunt, the migration that brought beasts of all kinds to their lands.

Raki, however, rarely saw reason to celebrate any of this. He liked to take life as it came, and nothing was all that remarkable to him. Perhaps it was his almost-true façade of uncaring; perhaps there was just nothing to ever celebrate, in reality.

But the most likely reason was that for the past five years, he'd had no one to share the celebrations.

He was musing on this as he trudged through the forest. At eight years of age, he wanted to settle down, become part of a pack, find a mate. More than anything, he wanted a family- a family he could take care of, hunt for, defend.
A fae he could love. And young ones he could cherish.

Resolving to find a pack or mate before the year was up, Raki stopped at a small, clear stream and bent his head to drink.
