I can tell I caught the pup by surprise but she's a feisty one, that's for sure. At first she freezes and goes limp in my grip which I'm perfectly fine with but then she starts to struggle and I grumble and growl through gritted teeth, trying not to bite down harder to hurt her while still keeping my grip just tight enough to hold her in check. Her yelp makes my ears pin back since I don't like having to do this but my mind tells me its the only way to get Kohaku back. I put her down in the light from the ceiling and back up, not wanting her to see me just yet. It's not like I have anything to hide. My coat is duller and my eyes might look a little mad at times but it's either this or challenge Kalgalath straight up for the right to see Kohaku. I'm not scared he'll beat me but I'd like to try it this way first since for all I know, she doesn't want to see the king hurt. She did choose to go to him over staying with me, after all. It makes me angry all over again every time I think about it. I can only smirk in amusement when she growls at me, showing her teeth cause we both know she can't hurt me. She seems to think better of it though cause then she charges forward, trying to race back out of the caverns. I know she could get lost since it's a maze of tunnels and utter darkness. I know my way back cause I've traveled the same way many times but she doesn't have this benefit. She'd probably get lost and wind up starving to death. I can't let that happen. Her life is on me now and Kohaku's freedom depends on it. I take off without a second thought, charging her down. She did manage to get a head start but not by much since three of my strides equals one of hers. Plus I know my way around whereas she might have to hesitate to know when to turn since its so dark. I take advantage of this, catching up to her in no time. I growl in frustration and reach for her scruff again. I'll pick her up to stop her momentum then carry her right back to the same spot, putting her down in the light before I bring my paw down on her shoulders to effectively hold her down on her stomach. I don't aim to hurt her, only pin her. Leaning my head down next to hers, my voice is low with a hint of danger. "Don't try that again. You'll only get lost and then die in the darkness. Is that what you want? My way is easier. I'll take you back to Aurora and trade you for her. It's the only way. It's got to work." By the end, I'm talking more to myself than to her, my eyes more distant though my paw remains firmly on her shoulders. My voice trails off but I shake my head and come back to the present, glancing at her with sharp blue eyes. "I want a promise of cooperation before I lift my paw. Do we have an understanding?"
