Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

ACANTHUS
...you've wasted all your time!

For a moment, the lad simply lay there, until the scent of wolf filled his nose; though it was not his mother's perfume. Hope fled, and the semi-dream ends, bringing him to the present. Hot coals find the blue of the male, this demanding the white bastard gives. Does he not know? Cant is a sly dog, and he lowers himself to the ground, black ears moving back against his skull, though he does not roll. It is a rattle-like sound, a hiss and a whisper, then it builds into higher pitch. The lower vocals vibrate and he lets loose a puppy-like snarl, his lips wrinkling as he remained on his belly, fired-up determination in his hot gaze.

He has not made it to the water yet, having lost himself to much needed sleep, thus he is unusually savage. Dark hackles raise along his spine, black towers moving back and forth, and suddenly that creamy grey body is flashed. He rolls quickly, slinging mud as he thrashes about, snarls and snaps going up to the older male's chin, though he aims not to make contact, merely to show he will protect himself if needed. Broken logic flits through his consciousness as he stares up, hit little fit done and over with and the wild thrashing about ending in slaps of paws against earth. He stands, keeping his head lowered and his eye on his current threat. Though the stranger gnashes his teeth at the lad, he remains unphased by the threat, or so it seems. ”I would like a lesson, so long as you are not affecting my well being in any way but positive.” Cant smiles, needles showing with the gesture as the female speaks, those dark pink eyes sliding from Eric to Leafshadow.

He could not tell her age from scent alone, but her height over him spoke of it, telling him she was older than he. Figures, he had to meet up with adults as soon as he let his mother go. A skeptical eyebrow raises as he tilts his head, those eyes analyzing her as she watches the older male. Turning his body he places himself beside the male, black ears sliding toward the girl as he watches her. He is not threatened as much by the male, his offer of food much more than he can ignore, though he needs to get to water. One ear slides back, toward the river, and he is moving. Interest in the pair of elders was waning, though his attention pointed to Eric, ever ready to follow the male. He says nothing, simply lowers his head to lap at the cool waters of the river, slowly at first then more quickly as his thirst was realized. He gulped and gulped at the water, even wading in a bit subconsciously.

When he was finished, he turned back to the pair, his stomach expanded ridiculously to show his fullness of the liquid, and it was a tiny bit tender. He sighed and opened his mouth, spilling his name to these two strangers. ”I am Acanthus, you may call me Cant.” He tried to sound stronger than he was, and remained ever alert to their motions. He sits a foot away from the male, watching them both as their interaction continued. Darkness and madness have taken him as surely as the scent of death clings to the boy, will he nurture it, or destroy the feelings all together?
