Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Ever silent, ever watchful, and always by her side. Gaia was not surprised when her brother appeared like a great mist and moved to stand by her side with a kind smile on his face. She hadn't really been alone since leaving the den but that didn't bother her. Though the russet pup was the older of the two she was a great deal smaller than Cae. True they were both still children growing into their paws but it was already clear that the lighter boy would take after their mother when he was older.

The smaller female leaned deeper into her brother and nuzzled the side of his neck affectionately. Perhaps some would be annoyed at having a constant shadow following them around, but not Gaia. It was nice to know that no matter what and no matter where he would be there to protect her when she needed him most. For a moment the two pups sat on the edge of the frozen lake and silently watched the world past them by, enjoying the time in each other's company.

But the moment passed as Gaia's legs rested and she felt ready to make the journey to the little island in the middle of the lake. For the pup it was like going to a different world. What would be on that island? Did other wolves live there? She had to see for herself. It was clear nothing was going to stop her and Gaia knew that Cae wouldn't object. He would be there by her side. Always. "Come on, Brother! Let's see what is over there. Then we can go home."

The little puppy stood up and shook off the snow that clung to her fur, testing out her legs to see if they were well and truly rested. Then she looked at her brother before running out on to the slippery surface of the lake. Adorable giggles echoed around the ice as Gaia slid more than ran towards the island. She didn't make it more than a few steps before her claws slipped and she fell face first on to the ice. It took her a moment to realize what had happened but in that time she was already up on shaky paw ready to go again. She turned around and gazed at Cae to see if he was following her. While the ice was able to hold her smaller form it may not work for both wolves. Though it was still winter, spring was just around the corner and the days were getting warmer...
