The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Everything has been quiet since the new queen was announced and the Saw Tooth wolves paid off their debt with a pup from their litter. He's not much to look at but I'm sure Kershov will make something of him. I can't help but hope Scarlet doesn't get too much time with him though. Something about her makes me think she could eat a pup and not think anything about it. Even so, I'm intrigued by the new queen and I wonder if I'll ever get some one on one time with her. Maybe I wouldn't feel so harshly about leaving her unsupervised with a pup if I knew more about her. Or maybe it would just give me more reasons not to trust her. Even so, I owe it to Kershov to try.

Marx has been gone a lot as of late, always wandering off to do some more training with the soldiers. If there's one thing about him, he's very persistant when it comes to discipline. I wouldn't be surprised if the soldiers end up like robots by the end of it, no emotion, nothing save for commands and orders and kill when you're told to kill. The odd thing is that I used to think Marx was like that. I used to think he was so disciplined that he didn't have room for emotion. How very wrong I was. When he's alone with me, he turns into a completely different wolf, all whispered notes of affection and games of truth or dare in the dark. We've had our share of naughty moments and I don't regret a single one but some parts of him still seem to be cut off from me, as if I'm just skimming the surface of his mind.

I don't like the looks the new girl C'leria gives him either. That girl just knows how to push my buttons and get under my skin. She's his apprentice but I swear she'd like more late night "training sessions" with him. I trust Marx completely but I don't trust her any further than I could throw an elephant. I just wish I had something to take my mind off of it.

I wander the borders, wondering if I'll find my much needed distraction today or if its going to be another boring day in Abendrot.
