aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Yes. That was the word. The word that shaped who he was over the last day or two, the word eating him alive and not stopping, the word driving his soul forward and causing it to ache. All. Night. Long. It never stopped, it never gave way for just a minute. No, it was persistent. It got stronger with every whispering breath still able to come out of the brute’s maw, the brute’s mind. It ate at his nerves, his body numb, not wanting to remember but not wanting to forget. His paws were caked in dried blood, his claws frozen to the tip in the unforgivable ice. Love was driving him forward; love was making him suffer. The titan never wanted to let go. He wanted to fly, to fly with someone on his arm and take to new places, for new adventures and meeting new people along the way. He began to know what is life was made for in the last hour, contemplating over the words driving him off the deep end. What did she mean? That he was hurting her? How was he doing that? And it it couldn’t be the other way around. Athene couldn’t hurt him. But she did. The mind he possessed then was hurt and wilted under her power, under her sword. But the wounds on his paws were not from her. It was merely ice...

Aurora stood before him proud and tall, the tip of Leisure Lake appearing at a diagonal angle behind him. He hated winter, he hated ice. Shouting at a whisper over the breeze, the name of his beloved’s sister rang out through the needles of the pines, awakening the sleeping territory. Or was that he just couldn’t see the life? He called again when no response came, not pressing very hard after that because he heard the wind turn, the shadows starting to move. Zev stood still, eyes fixated on the area he knew she would show herself. Not a moment later, the ess came out from the trees. She was a grayish russet, her color dull by the colorless afternoon sky. They looked almost alike, size not faltering a hair away from Athene’s description. But the brute saw gray and red, the usual honey-colored eyes of his wolf turning away into a deep amber. It was almost a duplicate, one maybe his mind could make up. This was Hellene, even before she stated her title. His gaze followed her body, his towering form never moving. He stood with an expressionless face and a deep set pair of orbs that her no other word than frozen; frozen beyond the healing of warmth. Hellene’s stance was almost different. She stood proud in front of him, never faulting her gaze. Athene could have shrunk from under him, but when she got used to him...she didn’t.

The words the vixen had just spoken came then to his ears, but the echo was already overcoming the vocals as she spoke them. “How do you know my name, brute? I do not know you, so it is odd that you should know my name. Explain and know that I do not feel kind toward strangers.” Her voice was threatening, persistent and cautious as the titan began to think. Should he speak? The answer of yes, right? He spoke in almost a whisper. “Athene...I can see her in you.” His heart almost collapsed, almost caved right in front of her. But the same force that held him upright as he saw the beautiful ess disappear into the snow held him upright there. He didn’t see her reaction then, blinded by the pain covering his gaze. The small revelation of his emotions broke the surface of his features, but he sucked them back in, knowing that the girl in front of him was a quick reader and knew what he was about to say. The fae took a step towards him, maybe trying to certify the scent that still lingered in his pelt, in his fur. He met her gaze once again, perhaps something changed in her eyes? “This should sound weird, but I love your sister.” His voice was emotionless, the only way he could keep himself from falling apart.

He also wasn’t able to talk in full sentences, the break of tears brimming behind his eyes. Behind him, his tail sank down to the ground, limp and looking injured at the height he held it. Swallowing, he decided he needed to get out the most important information before the fae started asking questions. “She fell through the ice...I saved her with her help...but she ran. She ran away from me.......I...I don’t know why......I...don’t know how.......Please..you don’t know me, but you are the only person who can help me.....Please.....” The tears almost poured down his face at that moment, but he bit his lip and sucked in the remorse and pushed in the numbness that was oh so familiar. He spoke again, with a more refined tone. “I am Zev. You must help me find your sister.” Perhaps he didn’t pull on such a covered show of his emotions, but he stood looking at the ground, never gazing at the wolf that reminded him so much of the girl he wanted to call his. He was so very close to the ground.
