Closing his eyes, Dylan groaned when he heard his brother speak and stopped short, spinning around quickly so that his body remained between his twin and the book in his hands. It was unusual for Dylan to be seen with any sort of reading material that he had picked up voluntarily...in fact, it was pretty rare to see him in a library at all; he preferred being outdoors amongst the trees. “Everything is fine,” the boy responded a little too quickly, and he offered his sibling a rather sheepish smile, although he had, no doubt, intended for it to be reassuring. “We were just...exploring! Isn’t that right, Lu?” Lunarian glanced up quizzically at his faerie and received a knee in the shoulder, “yes!” he said at last, nodding his great head enthusiastically, “exploring, that’s exactly it.”

He didn’t know why he was unwilling to share what he had seen with his brother. He supposed it was partly because he didn’t want to be told that what he had seen was impossible, but it was also because history had taught him that Danny didn’t want to talk about their dad. If they couldn’t share their grief, then Dylan was not about to willingly share much else. “Bleeding?” Dylan asked Sol, frowning a little as he looked himself over; he couldn’t check his hands however, they were holding the book. ‘Dylan,’ Lunarian whispered through their telepathic connection, ‘you’re dripping’ The tiger was right, the boy had begun to drip blood onto the floor. ‘Take the book’ Dylan instructed his familiar, and the tiger did so, taking care to keep his head turned away from Danny and Solarius.

Dylan held out his hands to his brother, the nails were jagged, some had been badly bruised, and a couple had been cracked, “I um...fell,” he explained, a little lamely, “you know...when we were exploring.” The boy tried to push his hands back into his trouser pockets, as Lunarian carefully deposited the book on a nearby table that was scattered with others, hoping it would get mixed in with those already there. “What’s that, anyway?” Dylan asked, nodding his head in the direction of Danny’s giant textbook, “it looks boring.”
