Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Oh such grace! Oh such beauty!
And lipstick, and callous
and fishnets and malice

She cracked the bones of the salmon as tore into the bodice of the fish. Waste not, want not. Live to see another day and another adventure. Perhaps even eat another rabbit. Harridan's true nature was not that of a leader but it was not of a follower either. The sterling wolf wanted nothing more to live her life the way she saw fit. In a seemingly previous lifetime, she had thought she would need the protection of a pack to raise any of her daughters to adulthood. In the end, it was just her own intuition that had saved only one of the three. The pack had done no better to ensure their survival than Harridan would of done by herself. She did not make the same mistake again. This litter would be protected by herself and Abraxus until they could take care of themselves. With any luck, both of the girls would survive without any more mishaps. She snickered at the girl's response. "Awww, pups aren't too bad. And by the time they're yearlings they help provide for themselves."

She finishes the second fish, finding her stomach pleasantly full and satisfied. She stretches, relieving all the tension and knowing that she should probably go back to her den and relieve Abraxus from his fathering duties. It's not like she didn't trust him, but she knew his temperament to be short and knew that if her children were anything like her...they would be sure to test his patience. She hears the growl from the other loner, and hair involuntarily rises on the scruff of her neck while the red amber eyes roll in her head. "Don't get your undies in a bunch sweetheart. You're nothing special to me and answering my question or not answering isn't going to make an inch of difference to me. And don't think for a moment that you know anything about me because I have pups and appear to be alone." It was a fair warning. Harridan was not the biggest of creatures or the most powerful, but she was smart and fearless. It was a combination that many did not believe she possessed until it was far to late. She had lived in packs before, Hell, she was a prominent member of packs before. But leadership was far to demanding for a free spirit like herself, and submission for no reason was hardly something she was into.

The serious moment passed and Harridan grew into her lackadaisical self once again. She cleaned her fur of fish scales and juices before glancing up at the other. "Besides, only one of my pups looks like me." There was a smart-ass grin on her features as she looked at the other one. "The other looks like her father, Abraxus." She hardly could resist primping and strutting like a very very protective peacock when it came to her children, and why shouldn't she? They were beautiful and in time she was sure they would be vicious survivors the way their parents were. She could sense it in her bones. Sure, there had been no prophecies made upon them, their markings spoke of no inclination one way or the other but Harridan was confident that there was a certain sort of toughness that came with being born as a loner, there was a certain sort of hardness. She could hardly articulate appropriately the well of joy she felt when thinking of the father or her girls. Why not express it in a sarcastic, jeering sort of way?
