The soft scratching of charcoal on paper was almost hypnotic. In fact, for anyone else, it would have put them to sleep, but I was stronger than that. Though this was not my idea of a goodtime, especially as the ever annoying sun was hitting me, and I had to be in the same room with the bitch, it was the only way to do as the frigid goddess asked. And as much as I disliked the frigid adult for her hubris, she had a point about how best to dispose of the bitch who was continually interfering with my prince.

The first idea I had had was clearly not going to work, as the damn fox refused to come close to me now that she knew of it. She was a simpering coward, but I will give Esi credit for not being stupid. Even now, she huddled, trembling near the bitch�s wolf, her mind constantly checking my own when I allowed it, just to be certain she was safe. No, killing a familiar wouldn�t be enough to have the bitch thrown out of court and exiled.

Shadows whispered, and, as I contemplated plans, my tail twitched, as it often did, in time to the silky words slithering out of the shadows. Perhaps, the best way to disgrace this girl, they said, was to well and truly dishonor her, disgrace her name. The dance, they whispered, had held a secret kiss for the bitch, and, as the tail twitched again � earning yet another admonishment � a new plan began to take shape in my mind. I can�t be certain I didn�t smile, but I did catch Esi burrowing deeper into the wolf�s fur for protection or some nonsense.

�You know who would love to sit for you later, Nyx bets?� I began, as the shadow slaves slipped between the door and its threshold to gather information about the baron�s whereabouts. Hopefully this would work perfectly, both for me, and the goddess who wanted this just as much as I.
