Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Nord continued to stare down at his paws, wondering if anyone would come along. These lands seemed to be quite populated, as his incident at the crags had proven, but perhaps he was alone today. The quiet trickling of the slow moving river was quite calming, and he felt himself relaxing a little bit. That was, until, the voice of another startled him out of whatever peace he had found. The young wolf jumped up and whirled around, his fur bristling, not to be threatening but out of fear. She didn't seem to be very threatening though, certainly not out to get him, and her question was polite enough. He calmed down a bit but it was clear that he was still on edge, as his deep blue eyes were wide, displaying the fear that he felt. He... he couldn't help it, not really, he hadn't expected solitude would make him /this/ awkward to talk to others that he didn't know. It might be easier, though, with just one new face. Three had been... far too many. And he was young yet, and that might also have something to do with it, but he didn't want to be so nervous and mistrusting of others.

"I... ah..." Nord started awkwardly, his fur smoothing down as he began to calm from the unsuspected approach. "I-I'm most comfortable talking to myself, I g-guess..." he said shyly. Strange, maybe, but it was how he was. Aside from the old wolf he had called his mentor he hadn't really had any interaction with anyone besides himself. Even when his pack and family were still alive he had always been a little bit of a loner. He supposed them all dying hadn't helped much in that regard, however. He watched as the other sat down, and a few moments later he mirrored her, albeit a bit more nervous and fidgety than she was.

The grey and white wolf studied her carefully. She looked to be older than him, but he couldn't tell for sure. It was just a guess and it wasn't like he was going to ask her about it or anything. That would be kind of a weird question to ask someone you just met. Though he wasn't "well-versed" in social interaction he wasn't a complete dolt, either. She introduced herself, Mistletoe, it was a nice enough name he supposed. It sounded like a plant or something, he wasn't sure. But he knew that plenty of wolves were named after things in nature so it wasn't too surprising if it was the case. His name, he didn't know where it came from, but he didn't mind it. It wasn't exciting or noteworthy but then again, neither was he.

"It's, uh, nice to meet you Mistletoe." the youth said with a small wave of his tail. A slightly nervous smile appeared on his face, but it showed that he was relaxing a little bit at the very least. "I-I'm, uh, Nord. And, um... sorry for jumping earlier, I-i just... wasn't expecting it. Er, you. I mean, uh, I- wasn't expecting you, to you know, like... yeah..." he trailed off quietly, looking down at his paws again. Wow, he was really not good at this.
