At Leisure Lake the sun is always shining and only a few stray clouds roam the open sky; paradise is the one word that really describes it. This beautiful lake is clean and refreshing, the very best place to swim and fish. Pups are known to play here while older wolves watch at the side, engaged in their own activities.

He seems satisifed that I understood his name but when I ask him about being scared and then about joining a pack, he suddenly seems troubled again. I tilt my head, my eyes softening in concern as he simply stares at me and I wonder again if he has trouble speaking. When he starts pawing at his own ears and shaking his ear, I raise my brows in question. Is something bothering his ears or is he trying to say something? He flicks them back against his skull and looks at me pointedly. I'm guessing the latter then. I choose my words carefully so he can shake his head or nod.

"Um...you can't hear? Is that what you're trying to say?"

As he motions toward himself, I have to concentrate again to realize what he's trying to say. But then I notice the patchy fur and scars that decorate his skin. My lips tug down in a frown as my heart tugs at the sad sight. Who could do such a thing? It does explain his fear; I just wish there was something I could do to help him. He sighs and looks down as if defeated and I whine in protest, wanting him to stay hopeful. He collapses into a pit he dug up and I flick my tail in thought. Maybe he's content here, then I have no right to ask him to leave and go somewhere that's full of strangers he won't like or trust. I glance at the ground, trying to figure out my options. Finally I look back up at him.

"Are you happy here?"

That's a simple enough question, right? That should tell me whether he wants to remain here or whether he'd like something else.
