The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

goes the clock, we laughed at fate and mourned her, tick tock goes the clock even for the monster

The Monster was not raised in a typical loving pack. To them, weakness was never allowed. As pups they were taught to earn their meal. Crawling up to their Mothers, expecting milk was unheard of. They had to get through the gnashing of teeth, and dodge the claws, aimed at them. Always they would lose, but every now and then, if they were lucky, they would get through their makeshift training camp. Their reward was a full tummy of milk, and another day they would not die of starvation or cry away their hunger pains. As a feisty pup she was making her parents proud with her boldness, never afraid when she lost the game. Yet she noticed how differently her parents looked at her once a faint white mark began to appear from underneath her ebony fur. As she got older, those eyes, once full of pride, was filled with disgust and hate. By the time she was capable of eating meat was when she learned just why her parents looked at her with such hate. It was then, she knew, at such a tender age that she could trust no one, not her pack, not her parents, and deep down…she truly couldn’t trust herself. As she was told before they attacked her and chased her out, she was a cruel feral creature that would strike Death to their pack. Unwanted and unloved she lived in the wild lands, returning to her natural instincts testing what she knew little about survival. After being battered and bruised by Mother Nature, facing different threats, coming out on top, the Monster was versatile. She was a survivor and nothing would take her down, after all, why do you think Mother Nature tries to kill her off? She is unnatural, she is not meant to be alive. Raised by Mother Nature and Death himself did she learn how to live without the need of others. Death found her, marked by her own parents as being a terrible creature, and she clung to Death knowing he would do anything to protect her, teaching her how to thrive and how to speak different tongues. Mother Nature wish to kill off the horrendous creature she had created when she danced with Death one night. Yet she could not kill something that Death would not allow to die just yet. She was his…and he wouldn’t let her go. She was his pride and joy and favorable creation. Why else do you think he has given her a name…a name that all of Mother Nature’s creatures already knew, already felt, the rhythm of their heart and natural biological clock…why do you think the girl has never uttered it?

As the gruesome creature walked she felt the presence of a smallish creature hanging around her right hip. She would stop and turn around flashing her teeth to the girl snarling and snapping her jaws, not wanting the girl anywhere near her. She traveled alone. Both ears laced tightly against her ebony skull, sapphire eyes glinting in the darkness, glaring coldly at the pup. Hackles rose in the dimly lit cave those snarls lowered giving the girl a warning- to stay away. As soon as she was sure the girl got the message loud and clear she would turn around and continue pressing on. Not afraid of the darkness as it overwhelmed her. Using her senses, with each step she would use her paws to feel the ground, her tail flicked side to side, allowing the dark grey tip to bang into the side of the wall reassuring her she was walking true. Her ears were like radar systems, turning back and forth picking up the various noises of the dull wind that blew or the sound of water dropping from above. She pointed her agile form in the direction of the rushing waters, her interest peeked. With her eyes now used to the darkness she noticed that they were standing on the edge, her ears twitched at every small rock that fell, her paws feeling the loss of rocks as they trickled downwards. Her dial would tilt to the side, ignoring the jagged sharp tips below as she noticed the slim pathway trailing down towards the rushing waters. Lifting her nose she tested the air, before noticing another way. An easy jump to the other side with a much safer wider path. The leap could be made by a seasoned wolf, but for a yearling…she would fall to her death. Not caring for the other, she was eager to make the jump that was until she noticed how the other was moving her small frame into a play bows of sorts. The Monster did not know how to play or what was considered play all she saw was that this was an attack. Growling she turned around noticing that the girl was standing on a rather large crack, using her weight, along with the Monsters, to create the edge she was standing on to fall. Yet, what the pup did not know, was that she was creating herself a trap…a trap the older one was too eager to spring on her. Before the ledge fell she already lifted herself into the air easily landing on top of the pup, on safe solid ground. A nasty snarl escaped as her powerful jaws clipped and snapped above and to the side of the girl’s head. Not caring in the slightest that she may be about to bite the pup to death. A cold voice crawled out smoothly, her tones poisonous as her hackles bristled and rose.

“Death will not have me tonight.”

A devilish smirk appeared on her bloodstained lips. With a thrust of her head upwards, she had pried a rather large rock out from its spot causing the very ground they were on to tumble. As the ground below gave way, as more rocks tumbled down, falling between the two wolves she made an easily leap for the ledge that was much wider and steadier, a jump that could still be easily made for her, as well as a jump that the yearling could not make. Yet as the older wolf reached the ledge, it would seem that Fate did not want the yearling to die just yet. Rather, the yearling was caught by a very small piece of rock that was stuck out from the wall of rocks they were climbing. Yet the yearling was trapped. You see, above the yearling was a small ledge that held a small path to get to the bottom safely, but the yearling wasn’t big enough to climb all the way up to it. Neither was the pup able to jump down, because the sharp rocks were pointed upwards ready to accept her carcass. The only way to save the pup was if the older wolf jumped down, to the very landing Riven needed to climb to, but it was too far away for the girl to climb. Unless….unless the hideous creature helped her up as the poor yearling would try to climb. Oh, but she had no reason to help, and so, the older wolf watched. But she wanted a better view of the girl to die…for attempting to kill her. With an easy jump she landed on the very landing that Riven needed to climb to, and the gruesome creature stood on the landing, bending her head down, nowhere near could the yearling jump and bite at it without fear of falling to her death. A Cheshire grin appeared on the Monster’s bloodstained lips. She may be healing from a terrible wound given to her by a mountain lion, but surely, the little girl of white, black and red, would see that the creature she tried to kill wasn’t weak at all. She would tilt her dial curious to see what the girl caught in a trap would do….there was no way for her to escape not unless…she manipulated the Monster to helping her. Oh what fun game this is indeed!
