I smiled at the young colt. For the first time since I’d known him, he really sounded excited. I nodded and off we trotted towards the beach. We crossed into the open, the waves just lapping the beach in their usual patterns. Oh yes, the storm had really pounded this section of paradise. There were a few palm trees that had fallen, roots high in the sky. But there were seagulls all around, feasting on the treasures that had been beached. I smiled.

“Wanna tray sum’n fun?” I asked with a wink. I nodded at a seagull hopping about not too far. I started towards it, neck arched, ears back, stepping high. It didn’t realize I was there till I charged it. It squeaked loudly and flew off away from me. I laughed and looked at Conquistador. “They may soun’ vulga, bu’ dey sure are fun ta chase. Come on, suga!” I smiled. “Day won’ hur’ya an’ if ya can ca’ch dare ‘ails, day make da funnies’ squeal!”
