Nootau raised his head and joined the chorus of howls heard around the territory of Spirane. He had a feeling that it had been a long time since the mountains had heard such vigor in their voices. They were excited, Nootau could feel, for it felt as if the pack had purpose again. With Moonglow’s return, she’d brought with her enthusiasm to work and live as a pack again. He had only been in Spirane for mere months, but the change was profound. It seemed, also, the outside world was affected by their wonderful song. The air shivered with life again on the mountains, and rippled outwords to let the lands beyond their borders know. Nootau’s black ears perk forwards in amazement when it seemed that as if responding to their claim of on the mountains, a new scent tickled his nose.

His blue and orange eyes flared with glee. Already, they were being rewards for their enthusiasm! With agile paws, he navigated down the mountain paths to meet their visitor. The pack he had been born to lived in the mountains until the meteor strike, so the navigation of the hazardous cliffs came naturally for him. It was one of the reasons Spirane felt so immediately like home for Nootau and why he was sure he’d found his place in Moladion.

Nootau ducked around a tight corner, and leaped a chasm before he was able to catch his first glimpse of their visitor. The moon glinted off his fur like silver. Nootau paused to curiously observe him for half a moment. It was unlikely that he presented a threat, since he was sitting so kindly just outside the border, waiting for a wolf to find him. Well, let Nootau oblige him! Nootau loped through the winding paths and came trotting up the rise to meet the male.

Nootau was delighted to see that he was younger, a peer! Nootau’s tail waved amiably and he greeted as he approached, “Hello, welcome to Spirane! My name is Nootau. What is your name?” He presented himself with his chest puffed up slightly, for this was Nootau’s first true border patrol, and he was happy to have found someone interesting.
