Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Return to Lunar Children
remind me of who i'm supposed to be
IP: 12.231.36.2

Heyel turns his attention to my son and I can see the instant anger flashing in his eyes when he hears his daughter's name. I knew he wouldn't take so well to hearing Aaliyah's name but even I didn't expect this measure of vehemence. He turns on Chance, practically snarling at him never to talk about her again. The look he flashes me is obvious and my eyes narrow a bit in understanding. I doubt I'll have to say anything to Chance since I'm sure he'll know better than to press the subject, seeing how Heyel reacted. I give Chance a look anyhow, just enough to let him know to drop it. Arguing about her won't bring us any closer to Tobias.

I am successfully distracted from anything I might have done next when the scent that briefly trapped me at Taviora's borders comes roaring back to life. That intoxicating perfume of wild fire and soot wafts through my nostrils, growing stronger with every minute. My head snaps around before she even walks onto the scene. A pure black wolf stands before us, as giant in nature as my former mate and just as deadly to look at just without the gold markings. Her eyes still glow with an inpenetrable fire of blue and gold, so like looking into Kiska's eyes. My lips part, my breath exhaling as a shiver runs up my spine. Why does this wolf remind me so much of her? I blink, transfixed for moments at a time as my mind tries to muddle through the memories. I stare at her as if I can simply make the black of her fur wash away and leave me with those beautiful gold markings to grow entranced with and yet no matter how hard I stare, the black of her fur stays inpenetrable and black as night.

When she speaks, she speaks to the white male at my side and I find my gaze traveling down to the ground, my fur bristling though I don't know why. She introduces herself as Alias but I swear even her voice could assure me that she is the one I remember, the one I will always remember. She jumps to the subject of Tobias, letting her hatred become public knowledge though I don't think there's anyone I've met save Aaliyah who ever felt any affection for the beast. She says that she tracked him as far as Glorall so at least we have a direction to go in but I can't stop listening to her voice. She volunteers to help take him down with us and I stay silent, unable to even look back up at her lest I do or say something I might regret. Tremors continue to roll down my spine and I find myself unable to stop thinking about her and the memories we shared. This wolf across from me....it can't be my Kiska and yet she reminds me of her so much.

Heyel doesn't seem to trust her, eying her with suspicion before he gives in, saying we have allies in Glorall and it shouldn't be hard to go that way. I glance up at him, finding it much safer than to look in her direction. Malina steps up next, arguing first that she doesn't want to babysit Neveah before she finally gives in and decides to take her with her. I don't know what changed her mind but I'm almost glad to see her go. Such an attitude about her, I wonder why Heyel takes such a liking to her. The pride is eveident in Heyel's voice even as he speaks to her now.

I am distracted once more as none other than my own flesh and blood arrives next. My beautiful Zeteri, and yet she seems....rounder than I remember. I blink a few times just to make sure, my golden eyes wider with questions as she comes forward with a warm smile on her face. I return the nuzzle she gives me, embracing her briefly as any protective father would, listening as she welcomes us to Taviora. I don't deserve this greeting from her after the last time we met but I'll take it if she's that kind to forgive me.

"And I, you, Zeteri."

I murmur affectionately, my eyes glowing like they haven't in a long time with the pride of a father. Of course every time I look upon Chance, I see him with pride and again with Kane but I don't get to see my daughter every day and she's one of the few I have left in this world. Eying her stomach once more, I drop my voice where only she can hear.

"Either you have been doing double duty on the rabbit hunting or I've got someone to give the fatherly talk to. We'll speak later."

I'm not going to embarass her in front of everyone but my tone has finality to it, my eyes glowing with warmth and authority. She's not avoiding this one. I turn my attention to Heyel as he speaks, asking if anyone knows someone in Glorall. I wait patiently, still not turning my eyes in that direction even though its where Zeteri stands now. Just smelling her fragrance makes me...restless.

About this time, a black figure appears in my peripheral vision. At first thinking it to be the devil himself, I curl my lips and snap my head around, golden eyes widening as I see something much smaller than the Tobias I remember turning to flee but not before his eyes meet my own and I know immediately who it was. Vidar. My throat goes dry, reliving that day that I attacked him and his mother. So much to repent for and yet I'll probably never get to the chance to with him. That look was enough to tell me that he's deathly afraid of me. When I hear Heyel's voice, the tone is clear. He's thinking it might have been Tobias too. I turn to him, my oice low so it doesn't seem like I'm contesting his authority. I have respect for my friend of many years and even though we are equals now, I still know how sensitive his pride can be.

"He ran because of me. It was Vidar, Heyel, the wolf I...."

My eyes say it all, the shame clear as day in them. Heyel knows about the day I attacked Vidar and Ruvindra. I'm sure just hearing his name will let him know what I'm talking about. I don't know if that'll be enough to stem the group he just sent after him but even so, I think he should know. I shift uncomfortably, not wanting to go after Vidar and make things worse. I'll let the others do it but how can I make him see that I won't hurt him when they bring him back? Surely once he sees me again, he'll just get scared all over again. My ears flick back in regret.

And then I hear it. The roar that tears through Taviora is like no other. It is the voice of damaged vocal chords, the voice of hunger, of domination, of destruction. Tobias. My eyes glaze over and without another word, I bolt from beside Heyel, sure that he'll know the meaning of that sound. Tobias is near and from the sounds of it, he's closing in on Vidar. That's the same direction the young black wolf ran to and Tobias would go after the loner rather than the group any day. He learned his lesson a long time ago. I cannot let Vidar get hurt again because of me. That would be unforgivable. I tear through the trees, my paws silent, my fur standing on end, saliva already pooling in my jaws, ready for action. Another cry tears through the pack lands, this one a word of another language and yet I understand the voice. Coza. I've heard that the alpha of Taviora speaks another language no one has ever heard before and that he is a warrior. I have never met him but that voice can only be his. It is full of anguish and the need for justice.

I close in on them, just in time to hear the snarling of first contact. When I reach the scene, Coza has put himself in the path of Tobias' jaws, throwing himself into the big black wolf, aiming to take them both to the ground. Coza is already launching a counter attacked on Tobias so I jump right in behind the black wolf, aiming to cut off any escape. My own wide jaws part and aim for the back of Tobias' neck, aiming to sling him like a rag doll and throw him to the ground or pin him there if Coza manages to get him on the ground himself. If he goes down, my paws will slam toward his shoulder to hold him down and if he manages to dodge, I'll keep going at him, my jaws snapping at any fold of muscle tissue I can grab whether it be a shoulder, neck, or back. I shake my head viciously and use my large paws as shields to slap at any muzzle that comes toward me for retaliation. Death is in my eyes once more but this time they are aimed at one big black wolf. I hope he doesn't plan on getting out alive.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
