Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

“Perhaps you are both wrong.”

I moved to step from within the shade and shadow of the trees of my home, eyes of violet blue opalescent, the mimic of my Uncle Azrael and Grandmother Zeivah resting upon each in turn as I allowed the faint hint of a smile to trace my lips in gentle recognition of both Malina and my Aunt Neveah. Perhaps Malina too should be looked upon as an Aunt of sorts, for I have seen the way in which Grandfather watches her. Perhaps I am her junior, perhaps we share no similar blood and yet no matter the intrinsic details of the relationship to myself or any other of Angel blood I am most assured that Malina…belongs, even if she does not wish to see it herself, even if Heyel will not speak the words. For all she belives….she is wrong. She is one of them, one of us perhaps although even I dislike to be spoken of in such terms. Neveah too, it would seem, feels upon the outskirts of her family though I am assured indeed that not all is true. It is a quirk within our nature perhaps, something bound within our blood that we are harshest to those we love the most. Perhaps others look upon Aunt Neveah with scorn for her half blood and yet I am assured each and every one would die for her, they would come to her call, for no matter the scorn they may feel for her it cannot be denied that of all the disdain and distaste within the Angel line- one need only call and all will come. It is honourable perhaps, if not confused and dirtied in its own way. We treat each other with such indignity and yet in the end- we are family and that alone is the spine of our breed. Heyel was right in this at least, his work assuring that no matter the tie, by blood or by role, son or daughter, grandson or assassin, we are bound and though indeed I am assured Malina and Neveah wish not to see it- they are the same, products of his teaching. It is within their voices and their movements and yet I do not think they see it, my lips given to lift slightly once more as I step from shadow entirely.

My red rimmed gaze is given to rest on each once more, towering form seated in these moments. For though I carry the colour and markings of the purest of Angels, bearing so strongly the look of my Mother- it is my Father and Grandfathers size and power I have been given to carry in muscle and frame and height, taller then both, heavier then both and yet I am not made to assassinate though I am sure indeed that were either to see within my mind, were either to know of what was to come perhaps they would look upon my differently. I will untie them both soon and yet indeed neither shall look upon me with favour in the weeks that will follow y fourth birthday. For a year longer at least, perhaps they can be made to see.

“Hello, Aunt Neveah, hello Malina.”

I offered each a dip of my head in turn, the russet mark bleeding like a sunrise across my chest given to find a dull glow within the dabbled light as my snowy tail was given to wrap around my paws, ears held forward in these moments to look pliantly upon them both. I was interested in what they planned to do this day, unaware entirely of the blackened creature that only moments ago rested his eyes upon myself and turned away, so very oblivious that day to the knowledge that the colours of my pelt I had so scorned had surely been given to save lives once more as he turned his attention upon Vidar, though indeed it seemed we all remained unaware. Perhaps it is not my place to speak to an adult such as Malina, for I mean no disrespect and yet the things she says are incorrect, wrong and tainted with her own limited thought. It is not her fault, she can be nothing but what she is and I mean not to correct her, mean only to discuss perhaps, to offer my own thoughts. Perhaps in Diveen my rank as Prince had stood me above her, yet within Taviora I hold not such place, have not yet achieved such a high standing though I hope indeed for this in the future. Malina is Elder here and this I respect yet I think it perhaps ill of thought to speak as she does to my Aunt Neveah. She is a pretty thing, my Aunt, with a pelt so dark and eyes so green. Angels I think, are beautiful in any colour or shade.

“Surely not all our family is this way, Malina? You know of them more then myself though I have seen goodness in them. Pride, I think, is a sinful thing, responsible for so much of our families actions and yet beneath such pride there is a bond so very deep, one you too are part of. Perhaps you do not see what my eyes do and that is alright. Your are a daughter to Heyel, in his eyes, though he will not speak it, which makes you Aunt to myself, you are part of this, part of us and that cannot be changed.”

I smiled once more softly, though I hoped Malina was not mad to hear such things, it was only the truth, yet often the truth is hardest of all to understand.

“To say we are all one thing is incorrect, I think. We are not all….assholes, I should like to think. Has my Mother ever spoken ill of you? Has Cousin Guardian or Ambrosia ever done wrong to you? We are all of one blood, but not all of one mind, we do not all think as Azrael or Heyel. I should not like to be thought of as an Angel though that cannot be changed, not yet. In time, perhaps, I will change the way we are seen, our family is wrong in many ways and yet right in others. I am pleased to see you, Aunt Neveah, perhaps you wear a dark coat, but you are my Aunt, forever and for always and I think I should always be pleased to see you.”

We are not all as Malina and Neveah believe. I reached forward slightly to touch her muzzle to my own, pleased to be in her company. I do not defend my family so much as…explain them to my understanding. That Malina and Neveah should feel as they do is proof of the change that must happen. Yet change takes time, it is not instantaneous and it should be wrong of me to discount that which is good about my blood and see only the bad.

“Please, will you tell me, what are you searching for, Malina, Neveah?”

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
